Bloomington is located on the north bank of the Mississippi River, just 16 km (9.9 miles) south of downtown Minneapolis. Bloomington is also home to the Mall of America, the largest indoor shopping mall in North America. Opened in 1992, the mall’s 520 stores that spread throughout four levels receive over 40 million visitors each year. But shopping is not the only attraction found here. There is also an indoor amusement park with roller coasters and the Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium, the world’s largest underground aquarium featuring a 91-meter-long (298.6-foot-long), clear tunnel where you can see more than 4,500 marine creatures. Bring the kids next door to the Water Park of America, the biggest indoor water park in the country. If you visit Bloomington in winter, visit the Hyland Ski and Snowboard Area for snowboarding and skiing or the Bloomington Ice Garden for ice-skating and ice hockey.

Getting There
By air, visitors will land at the St. Paul International Airport, located just a few minutes away from the centre of Bloomington, MN. Many Bloomington hotels will provide complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport, as well as to and from the Mall of America, so you should enquire in advance. The Metro Transit offers bus service as well as a fast light rail service. The Hiawatha Line or Blue Line connects Bloomington to the Mall of America and to Minneapolis. You can also hire a car from rental companies when you arrive at the airport or you can reserve one in advance.
