The iconic London branch however, is the flagship in the chain. Wax figures at Madame Tussauds range from sports stars and royalty, to Bollywood stars, fashion models and world leaders. Each wax model requires up to 250 exact measurements and photographs and takes up to 800 hours to complete.
Vitals and Tips
Marie Tussaud was born Anna Maria Grosholtz in Strasbourg, France in 1761. Her mentor was wax sculptor and Swiss physician, Philippe Curtuis.
Marie Tussaud’s first wax sculpture was of Enlightenment philosopher Voltaire.
Madame Tussauds is a short walk from the Baker Street Underground station. The museum is open every day except Christmas.
