Ambleside has a moderate maritime climate with little difference in temperature from season to season. January is the coldest month with averages around 6°C. The warmest months are July and August with average highs around 13°C. January is also the snowiest month with about 8 cm average.
Getting There & Around
To get to Ambleside, take the A591 to the Lake District. If you would rather not drive, you may take a bus, train or ferry. Manchester Airport is the closest to fly into, and from there you can rent a car or take the bus or train.
As previously mentioned, walking it the best way to get around Ambleside. All the shops, bed and breakfasts, and restaurants are right in the centre of town. The waterside is only a mile to the south of the town’s centre. You might also want to take a bike. Should you want to visit neighbouring communities, you can drive or take the train or the bus. The train station in Ambleside is the last stop on the line.
