Ski Dubai, in the not-so-confining confines of Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates, is remarkably engineered to maintain a constant daytime temperature of -1C and a nighttime temperature of -6C, cold enough to produce its own snow. These temperatures are more remarkable for being achieved in a country the 2006 mean temperature of which was 42.7 C.

Ski Dubai has five ski runs of difficulties to suit every level of skiing expertise, with the longest being four hundred metres. The Ski Dubai structure itself stands about eighty-five metres high and eighty metres wide and can accommodate up to fifteen hundred guests. Ski Dubai Skiing Lessons

Ski Dubai does have its restrictions, however, at least as far as who is allowed on its slopes. Skiers and snowboarders must be experienced enough to turn and stop safely, manage their speed, and use the chair lift.

Tickets for Ski Dubai cover the cost of skis or snowboard, skiing apparel, and two hours of slope time, and run about $40 USD. Group skiing or snowboarding lessons are available for those not yet qualified to take on the slopes.

Apres-ski is available at the St. Moritz restaurant right by the entrance to Ski Dubai, and at the Avalanche café. Ski Dubai, depending on the day of the week, is open from 10:00AM to 11:00PM or midnight.
