If it all seems like a cold calculation to placate the needs of affluent package holiday tourists, well, Port El Kantaoui is precisely that. Yet the occasional derision the Sousse suburb generates for expressly going out to deliver that aim seems oddly groundless. Sousse is, after all, a very real, dynamic city with venerable culture. The mere presence of a satellite seaside resort like Port El Kantaoui is, at the very least, a complement to what the big brother city with the UNESCO World Heritage Medina has to offer.
