Tropical Queenslander
4 out of 5

Basic, but everything worked and was clean and in good repair. I would suggest an upgrade of the self-catering facilities - the stove-top in my room was very old and didn't get very hot, and there were no cutting boards and no knives. Everything else was fine, and good value for the money.

We only stayed one night. Everything was good and especially the staff/reception was very friendly and helpful. The pool there is good however, we didn't have time to enjoy any facilities. No complaints. However, I can see that in peak season there will probably not be enough parking for the cars at the back.

Lack of cleaning staff - room wasn't serviced every day as stated. Grounds not well maintained - pot plants dying through lack of water, pots damaged and not replaced, palm fronds lay on main entrance way for several days without being cleared away

The room we were in had no window. The glass sliding entrance door had difficulty locking & caused some distress ( we stayed for one week). One receptionist was helpful - the other indifferent. The electric plug-in hotplates (it was advertised as a kitchenette) worked but the hotplate substance was disintegrating. The small bar fridge didn't , in my view, qualify for a kitchenette status. Cleaning staff were both helpful & polite.

A very good motel to use while visiting Cairns. Breakfast very good but restaurant at Cairns Queenslander was very noisy.

The air conditioning was way too noisy and we were not impressed with the way it drips water on you from right above the door way, when trying to exit unit. Shower over bath, not easy to get in & out of. Risk of slipping there! Office staff were very helpful & friendly & Thankyou for storing our luggage until we were ready to leave. Much appreciated.

Very friendly and helpful staff - got my room made up early as I had arrived well before check in time, as I arrived on an International flight. Arranged all our tours without any thing going wrong. Highly recommend this property.

The first room we stayed in had a few small problems- a bit poky, the door didn't open easily, noisy as at the front- but it was OK. The second was much roomier and nicer, with the pool and spa right outside. It is in a quieter area, an easy walk along the Esplanade to the town centre. We would definitely stay there again.

Great lodge if you are planning to stay a while. It isn't really close to anything, however you can be at the main stripe with a short cab ride. I got in late and needed somewhere to eat and was out of luck because it was on a really dark street and I didn't want to walk around by myself. Spoke to other tenants who had been staying there a while and they enjoy the facilities and the location.

Excellent, all over satisfied. Front desk especially helpful! Lovely room with balcony. No AC but ceiling fan was adequate. Breakfast available was good and helpful for those early AM tours.

I would've rated them higher for Service if they hadn't left the door wide open all day after servicing the unit! Fortunately nothing was taken.

There was no hot water. We had cold showers. We requested a room with a cot and we were allocated one of the second story rooms, when there were downstairs rooms. The service pesonnel were not very friendly.

A good size very clean and basic air-conditioned room with cooking facilities, bathroom with large shower and a comfortable bed. Soft pillows with very light filling. The ceiling fan rattled. If you are a light sleeper, the road traffic noise in the front studios by the pool may be be an issue. In North Cairns, Airplane traffic noise from Cairns Airport begins between 5-6am in the morning. If you sleep soundly, ignore these comments. A 20-30min walk along The Esplanade is a great way to get into town for food, a swim in the lagoon or a cheap massage in the night markets.
