We spent the day at Lover's Key State Park, checked in and talked under the spacious veranda while it rained, then soaked in the hotel pool. There was an Outback restaurant across the street where we had lunch and dinner after a light continental breakfast at the hotel.

Very good experience compared to what some others said. Hotel is very nice when driving up, and lobby and bar and dining area seem crisp and clean. Nice grounds. Off a bit from main highway. Room was a very spacious king deluxe, on third floor with small balcony overlooking the pool. Bed and other furniture, pictures and curtains were in excellent shape. Nightstands had marble tops. TV was not flatscreen but otherwise a pretty new Magnavox, with plenty of channels and good picture. A/C was very cool and quiet, no noise or vibrations. No stains on carpet. No musty smells or dampness, etc. Bathroom was spacious and clean, with separate tub and shower. They gave several bottles of hair and body products, and the one round bar of soap made it through the one night I stayed. Towels were clean with no rips or stains. Free wireless Internet is included although in my room it was not that fast, but I have my own laptop stick anyway. Bathroom had plenty of things to drink for the coffee pot. There are quite a few things in the neighborhood but I did not check them out, I am used to living in Florida. OK, trying hard to find negatives: ice machine on my floor was not working, had to find another one, but they provide a healthy sized bucket. This class of room, although nice, does not come with frig, but I kept some medicine of mine cool with the ice bucket. For short stay no big deal. The corridor walls could use some touchup of corner nicks as well as on some mouldings. Elevators claim to have current inspection certificate at the front desk. Elevator interiors could use some housekeeping as well, but nothing horrible. With the online discount I received this was at least 4/5 rating.
