The hotel is older but kept in good condition. Positives: location to mall, freeway, and major sights (5-10 min travel time); room was clean, grounds were well kept and food options were diverse and spanned all price ranges. Negatives were ,room was relatively smal/tight - especially vanity/bathroom/closet area, room door had 3/4 inch space to floor, room was cold and the property is immense with guests constantly getting lost. Booking was easy but a guest gets "nickled and dimed" with internet access and parking fees (that were to be free). Overall, it was a decent stay for the location and cost. One can drive from a more distant property and pay less for all amenities but trade out the drive time

Chose this hotel as it was "host" hotel for State Games of America athletes. Upon arrival we were told they were oversold and could not give us the 2 queen bed as reserved only could offer a king bed for the first night and then move us to a two bed room for remainder of stay. Four people crammed into king bed and roll away for one night! No refrigerator or microwave in room. Also were told in advance that microwave was available for public use only to find out microwave is no longer there. What one staff says is completely different from what another staff member answers. Felt misinformed. Overall grounds are beautiful and clean. Housekeeping is consistent and tower room was clean.

Visited family-Have stayed at this hotel before-Centrally Located and minutes from most San Diego attractions. Hotel is older but that's what makes it unique. Doesn't feel like your average modern generic hotel setting. The grounds are spectacular. Expect Check-In to be little long on Friday's but they make up by having multiple friendly front desk personnel on-duty. Not much different than Vegas Friday Check-In's. Remember, it is a big resort. Have patience, and you should have a good experience.

We travel to San Diego frequently and I have to say that, for the price, this was a perfect place to stay and relax. It is centrally located with easy access to the hotspots of San Diego. A large outdoor shopping mall is within walking distance, Old Town is about two miles away, and the beach is about 5 mins away. The staff were very helpful, taking us by van to Old Town SD and even picking us up at the end of day. These are not scheduled pick ups, just the kindness of the bell staff. One bell staff saw us walking towards the mall and picked us up in a cart and took us most of the way! When checking out, a large contingent of people were checking in, but again, the bell staff moved us to the front of the line to check out quickly and easily. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with flowers everywhere and gazebos, tables, and benches placed throughout the grounds. We ate at the cafe for breakfast and the breakfast was pretty good and plentiful. The sports bar was average but again, the wait staff was very friendly and efficient. The resort is older than most but very well decorated and clean.

Loved the grounds with all the flowers. Loved the close proximity to SD sites. Easy to get around and enjoyed the pool.

The resort was enhanced by lush landscaping, gazebos and gardens, lending a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere to the surroundings. The room was spacious, the bed extremely comfortable, and both room service and housekeeping attentive and helpful. In town for Comic-Con, we found both the shuttle service and close proximity to the transit line indispensable. With Fashion Valley Mall and a number of other hotel properties within short walking or driving distance, options abound for dining and shopping. And several restaurants on the grounds offer a variety of good choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well. We look forward to returning to San Diego again in the future, and we would definitely look to the Town and Country as a top choice for its combination of location, comfort and convenience.

We didn't spend much time there because we were touring most of the time. But I think if a couple wanted to stay there for a relaxing getaway it'd be perfect.

attended a conference at the hotel while my family enjoyed san diego. found out on arrivel that we had to pay for parking at hotel. no discount through the conference because we did not book through them. internet and gym were extra. other local hotel did not charge for parting or internet. add a lot onto the cost of the trip.

Attended the world conference of 1000 breastfeeding consultants from many countrues. Hospitality staff were gracious. Conferences center is excellent. Grounds offer beautiful, scented, glorious color and garden landscaping. Mattresses are mediocre but rooms are clean.

Room was older but nice. Probably needed some maintenance. The grounds were kept very well. We had breakfast in our room one morning. It was cold and not very good. The pools were nice but could have used bar service.

we went out for a 5 night 5 day stay and did everything that we came out to do, we went to the san diego zoo, sea world, and drove up to disneyland, we beat the traffic both ways,I recommend leaving after rush hour, come back after rush hour.hotel is centrally located between sea world and san diego zoo. hotel staff were nice, helpful. 1st room was musty, moved to the ten story and were happy with that room. (the ones pictured on the web site) meals are pricey everywere, use the trolley to get around, right behind the ten story hotel.

The hotel is aged, but reasonably kept clean and generously landscaped with trees and plants along pathways. The staffs are courteous, and receptive. The adjacent public transit center, and an upscale mall are big plus.

The room was clean and nice but the loudness of folks coming and going after 2a was tough As a rule when I stay at other hotels this has not been a problem (maybe walls were thin) I would recommend to a friend but tell them to ask for a room off of the driving areas

Hotel was beautful. My room was almost carbon of my home style and design. There were a few things I was not pleased with, but it would have been better if I had known adhead of time and they could have given that as an option in the package I selected. Such as...Parking and internet were extra. And since you were at the counter with a prepaid package, non-refundable...you had no choice. PLUS if you had guests over they HAD to pay a rediculous amt for parking. Guest of guests should be able to get stamped or be able to have it free. My toilet ran all day and night and sometimes would not flush. A/C was weak, but tollerable. I guess I had more to say than I thought.

When we arrived we were surprised to find that there were 49 people, yes I said 49, in front of us to check in and the whole process took 50 minutes from walking in the lobby door to walking out with a room key in hand. Well they were sold out of king beds as we'd requested so they gave us 2 queens, or so they said, but when we got to our room we found that we actually had 2 double beds. As my husband was on the phone talking to the front desk I saw a huge bug run across the floor...yikes! Well "sorry" no more queens either so we made do squished in the double bed with our flat lifeless pillows. There isn't enough parking around the complex to accommodate all the cars that this giant hotel has so after much searching we found a spot way out in the "south 40" in a dimly lit lot with several semi trailers. As we walked to the room we passed the pool and it appeared that there is no one to do any upkeep as the area was strewn with used towels and trash. All I can add to this review is that we do not plan on staying at this hotel on our next visit to San Diego.

Our hotel room was just fabulous. Large room with an outside patio and a wonderful view outside to the lovely gardens with flowers and exotic plants near a terrific pool. Inside the room was beautiful a large space and a king size bed with just the perfect mattress. The the bathroom was great, it met all my special needs. The restaurants on the the resort were all just out of this world. Great service from everyone especially the personal at the front desk with a very cheerful and happy manner about themselves. I really enjoyed the fact that everywhere in side the resort and around the town there was accesibility for my wife and people with special needs. I also enjoyed the fact that the resort was located in a strategic location where I could take the San Diego Bus transportation or Trolley and I could visit different tourist atractions. I truely would reccomend to my friends and family this great Hotel Resort. Thank You, very much Manuel Avelar

Grounds are very nice. Instead of driving, the Red Line just on the other side of the parking lot to the Gas Lamp district was very nice. Rooms are painfully dull and outdated.
