From the time you check in you are met with large rooms, a clean hotel, and a lovely place to stay. Walking distance to trolley and bus stops, and a casual stroll has you in the gaslamp quarter, full of lovely restaurants.

Staff at the hotel was Exceptional. Very courteous and attentive. Room was a tad on the dated side, but very clean and comfortable. The hotel restaurant was decent but with all of San Diego at your feet, I would recommend dining out. We've stayed at many hotels in San Diego before, we would come back to this one for sure.

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel for New Years eve. The room was large and had a nice view. There was a lot of noise coming from the room next door. Which made it difficult to sleep. $32 for over night parking is way overpriced. This hotel lacked the wow factor considering the price.

Westgate Hotel is in a great location. Perfect walking distance to Gaslamp Quarter, Petco Park, Broadway Pier and the trolley stops right behind the hotel. Room was very spacious, very clean and we really appreciated the floor to ceiling sliding glass doors that we could open at night. Hotel staff was great and the hotel itself is very nice and comfortable. Enjoyed our stay!

The hotel was even more than I expected for the price. Although a little worn around the edges it was clean and the bed was the most comfortable mattress I have slept on for years. The service was top notch! I could not have asked to be treated any better than I was. Will stay again on next trip.

Its an older hotel, but the people were just great. And the room was terrific. It was close to 5th street where all the nite life is with great restarants. And walking distance to the Pier/Harbor area.

A very nice hotel, older, but very nice, good staff, nice room, a bit noisy because it was in the middle of downtown but still very good. The only downside was the parking charge of $32 a day and the resort fee of $15/day which added up to an additional $300 plus valet tips.

I was there for the Annual ADA conference. Although the hotel was somewhat far from the convention center, it was a nice walk through downtown San Diego and the hotel was close to all the shopping, dining and entertainment venues as well as to the bayfront. The rooms were clean and the staff were VERY hospitable. Did not eat at the the hotel though, too pricey.

Staff was wonderful. However furniture was stained and getting shabby, Close to Gaslight area and convention center - about a fifteen minute easy walk. Hotel charged a $15 per night telecommunications fee and would have considered staying elsewhere if I had known.

I was there for family and have been to San Diego many times. The hotel has very large rooms, clean, friendly staff, and very nicely situated right near (but not in) the Gaslamp District and across the street from Horton Shopping and a 15 minute walk to the pier.

I expected a 5 star hotel to give the top notch service. This hotel had a flood in my room. They hesitated to move me to a different room. Nevertheless no one apologized for the inconvenience and tried to get a mechanic to come fix a flood. When they tried to move me to the next room, there was another flood that occurred there as well. Finally after much time wasted, they finally moved me to a different room. Overall the experience was not good at all.

The rooms could use a coffee-maker with coffee, sugar and cream, etc. It is very inconvenient to get dressed and walk to Starbucks every morning. We did ask the hotel staff if there was a way to get coffee and we were told that we would have to order room service. The day we left the hotel we overheard one of the staff members tell another guest that the hotel provided complimentary coffee in the lobby every morning. It would have been nice if the staff would have let us know or if there was a note in the hotel directory. While this may seem like a very petty complaint, it made my stay less enjoyable.

Very good hotel. Staff was very friendly and occomadating. They let me use the business office and were very helpful. The price was the best for the class in the area. The location was fine. I front desk was very helpful too. I do wish there was a pool, but you can't have everything

The Westgate by far exceeded all of my expectations!! I have to admit the formality of this hotel is above what I am use to, but I did not feel out of place or uncomfortable. The employees were all very polite and accommodating. The airport shuttle service was quick and convenient. We had no problems checking in or out. I have to admit it was a little noisy, but I think it would be noisy anyplace you stay downtown. There were a lot of sirens throughout the night. The rooms were very nice and the bed comfortable. All the extra little amenities are what makes this place so special. The trolley and bus service is very convenient, although you can walk to most downtown locations. It is situated close to the convention center, gaslamp district, marina, seaport village, shopping, dining, etc. They were very helpful in recommending places to eat, activities, and helping us plan our transportation throughout the week. This hotel is definitely a 5-star hotel!
