The Villa Club Hotel Kyrenia Guest Reviews
November 5th, 2011 I went to this place based on reviews I read from others, also the website stated they had internet and restaurant on site. I arrived around 9pm in the evening, was shown my room and after getting in tried to connect to the internet, was unable to needed a code, so I thought no big deal as I would get the code when the office opened in the morning. The place is poorly lit inside and as I was getting ready to sleep and went to get into my bed there were bugs on the bed, live bugs. One was red and resembled a very small tick. I got the bugs with toilet paper and then proceeded to check under the covers and mattress for fear of more. The blankets were musty smelling as was the room, but it was late and I was tired from my trip. I even said to myself that I could wash the blankets myself as my stay was until the 17th of the month. I woke the next morning and went to shower, the first thing I noticed was a wad of hair in the shower, which was very unsanitary. I clean the hair up (that was not mine) and proceeded to get in the shower. I turned the water on and aside from very little water pressure there was no hot water. Nothing worse than to be naked in the shower and no hot water. I rinsed off quickly then got out. The towels were so stiff, like they had been dried outdoors and again had that musty smell. When the office opened at 9am I informed the staff that my internet was not working. I even brought my lap top to the office for her to try and connect it which she could not. She did offer to let me use the computer in the office, but this really was not convenient as I needed to stay in contact with family and didn't feel right asking to use her pc several times during the day. She informed me she would work on getting it fixed, but that she didn't know why is was not working. Her father who owns the place had left out of town that day. I went to the local store and bought some yogurt when back to the room and took a spoon out of the drawer and it had rust on it, so pulled a second and it had hair on it. At this point with no restaurant on side (which is advertised), no internet and the sanitary conditions I knew I needed to find another hotel. I informed her that I needed to check out, didn't even mention the sanitary conditions as I was trying to be polite and would I be able to get a partial refund. At that point she informed me that no I could not. I then told her about the other problems for which she had a man she knew come to the room next to mine and I could hear the water running, well after about 10 mins the water got warm. I don't think warm/hot water should be a luxury at an establishment, but a given. I should not have to wait 10 mins for water to warm to shower. I made her come to my room and turn the water on and it did get warm but it took several mins. I then asked her for a statement or invoice showing I was checking out that day, by law they have to give me an invoice even though they had already charged my credit card, I didn't care I just wanted something showing I had checked out. She said "I cannot do that", she refused to let me check out because even though I had already paid it would show I did not stay there the rest of the time. I even asked her to call the police because I felt she was defrauding me by denying me my invoice. She refused. I called my husband and he found me another hotel and had them send a taxi for me. These people in my opinion are criminals. I have traveled all over the world and stayed in may places and have never experienced a place refusing you an invoice when checking out. I had to just leave the key and leave with no documentation. When I checked into my new hotel and told them the situation they told me I should have called the police because she was breaking the law by refusing to let me check out. Below is a copy of the email I sent to the establishment after and there reply. I did not break any dishes and you can see by his response that these peop
