The staff and facilities were fantastic. From the valet to the maid service, everyone was very helpful. The hotel was spotless and tastefully equipped. My only disappointment was the room size. Luckily I was traveling alone, otherwise the room would have been too small.

The hotel was nothing fancy, but the fact that it was located walking distance to the Gaslamp and public transportations it was good.

The Sofia Hotel is within walking distance of shopping, entertainment, great restaurants including their own the Currant. Brian one of the clerks working the main desk is fine example of the excellent support staff available to patrons of the hotel. Dr. Miller

Very friendly staff, the room was small but nice. The Greyhound terminal next door with various unsavory and homeless people lingering at the entrance was the only thing that was not good

The $30.00 a day to park your car is extreme as well as the $8.00 they make you pay for 2 bottles of water and internet in your room even if you do not want them they make you pay this fee. A big plus was was the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf next door.

The Sofia Hotel was a great location in the Gaslamp District. Perfect if you're visiting the San Diego Zoo and it's within walking distance to the Balboa Theatre. The room was slightly small, but very comfortable. The decor is modern, room is well kept, and beds were extremely comfortable. They also allowed us a late check-out with no problems.

Just what I needed when my friends came to visit! I wanted them to come and visit for my birthday and the Sofia Hotel provided the most adorable room. I can only complain about the expensive valet, but that's expected about parking in downtown San Diego!

Easy walk to the Gaslight District and beach. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Great to stay in a place that offers free internet, fitness room, newspaper and bottled water.

Valet was a bit hard to figure out...pulling up to the curb on the side of the building and is $30 per night, but all hotels in the gas lamp district charge. Service charges are an extra $8 a night, not optional, but include conveniences like bottles of water, wi-fi, and the amenities. Other than those extra charges, a somewhat affordable hotel...the on-site restaurant was AWESOME cuisine and affordable, too, especially at happy hour ($15-$20 for a whole meal with an alcoholic beverage). Location was good...only a few steps to the mall and gaslamp and then about a 10 min walk to the convention center where my conference was. Friendly staff. Would recommend, but wish it was a bit cheaper...but the room is absolutely gorgeous dark woods and white crisp linens!

I definitely enjoyed my stay at the Sofia Hotel. I got a 2 full/queen? beds that I shared with three of my friends. We were only staying for the night because they were visiting for my birthday as I am a San Diego Native. Because I am a native, i noticed that the location of the hotel was kind of far from the main clubs/bars. It was unfortunate to take a cab, in addition to the $30 valet. The Hotel itself was intimate and adorable. I enjoyed my stay as well as the old fashion San Diego traditional look it had to it.

Nice boutique hotel for good price! Room was small but nice. Very quiet and staff was very accommodating. Bed was comfortable. Location was excellent for the price. Would stay there again and would recommend to those traveling on business. Room would be a little small for two people staying more than a couple of days.

I stayed one night with the bf, hotel was easy to find although yes parking is $30/night (as expected)..we got a queen room? It is TINY..but also expected..good enough for one night..the bed was hard and I had trouble sleeping, but the A/C worked great and the blinds shut out the sunlight well. It is a pet-friendly hotel, they have treats for your pet in the front. The mini-fridge and included bottled water was great! The front desk staff was nice. I probably wouldn't stay here again because of the beds. =\

This hotel exceeded my expectations in most regards. The rooms are small but elegant. The staff were professional. There were a few annoyances: - A small but annoying nightly "service" fee to my prepaird room. This should have been included in the price. - Neither the WI-FI or cable internet worked reliably in my 7th floor room.

The Sofia was a very nice hotel. Although the room was pretty small, that's to be expected when staying in a bigger city. Valet parking was a bit pricey, but again, to be expected when staying in a big city. It was $30, and I've paid more staying in Boston and LA. There is a small fee they'll charge you every day (about $9/day) but included in this is two free bottles of water, and bike rental. We took advantage of the bike rental and rode right down the street and took the ferry over to Coronado Island. The location was great, plenty of awesome restaurants within walking distance, and attractions like Sea World and the San Diego Zoo within a 15 minute drive.

We were right in the middle of the Gaslamp Quarter and the Bay. It was a beautiful little hotel with updated decor. The only thing was that there were no shower doors that closed. Just a glass that didnt keep all the water in the shower, but was easily fixed with a couple of extra towels. We would most defintiely stay there the next time we head out to San Diego.

Room small but good layout. Bed good. AC excellent. Lot's of very nice small touches, free bottled water, small fridge and micro wave; nice shampoos etc..... maid service/turn down service very good. Room was very clean, called once for some extra towels and very prompt service. Linens were 1st rate. Price for all this was excellent! 2 Blocks from heart of gaslamp etc. Would stay there again.
