Excellent location, especially if you're into shopping! Two negatives - booking for afternoon tea not made by reception staff and bar staff completely forgot a drinks order. Not able to use restaurant on Thursday evening as they hold a weekly "chic flick"/dinner which was fully booked. We should have been informed of this in advance. Excellent breakfast. Overall would recommend hotel and would go again.

The night porters at the front desk were not of the friendliest sort and had neither light for a cigarette nor a map of the city. The room was tidy and the breakfast ok.

very noisy at night - the lifts and other internal machinery. Also the street cleaning machinery in early morning. Otherwise very nice hotel and good value.

Just back from a stay at the Sir Thomas, and we were very happy with it. The room was spotless, the staff were friendly and helpful, even booking a hair appointment for me a few weeks before my stay. Breakfast was excellent, and the hotel was slap bang in the middle of the shopping and nightlife, although not too noisy at night. I would definately recommend staying here, it's perfect for a city break.

Location great but price a little over the top, also didnt like the idea of having to give a charge of £100 incase of damages in the room during your stay. It was only a deposit & you do get it back when your leaving but could ave been doing with it over my weekend. Still didnt stop us having a great weekend & would stay there again.

The windows have yet to be renovated and double grazed and being on a main street meant that traffic noise was evident in the room. Otherwise very good overall.

It will help us ( oversea tourist s) a lot if the hotel can provide earlier check in time.

Reception staff were really friendly and informative. The location makes it a bit noisy on a Saturday night, but it's great for access to the city centre attractions. 1 member of staff in the restaurant was less than friendly but everyone else was lovely.

This hotel couldn't have been in a better location - an easy walk to everywhere in the City centre. The downside was that it was a bit noisy - double glazing would have helped. the staff, room and breakfast were all great. We thought it was a bit expensive, but didn't realise when we booked that it was Grand National week - maybe it's cheaper the rest of the year.

The location was ideal and the decor of the hotel was beautiful but the breakfast was very poor and the service of it was quite low,in the end we stuck to cereal and toast, at least we could help ourselves to that.

The bar staff seemed hopelessly slow. In a city with so much unemployment, how can it be that you cannot find decent bar staff? But for the rest, the hotel is good to very good. You can get a full English breakfast, the beds are comfortable, the rooms clean, and all the tourist attractions are within walking distance (Matthew St. is just around the corner.) I'd certainly go back.

Nice hotel. Breakfast service hours was a bit tight, 11 at weekends would be reasonable.
