The Shelbourne is located in a perfect part of town. Directly across from St. Stevens Green and just two blocks from the shopping district. Everyone in the hotel is very helpful from directions to more towels. You can walk to almost every attraction that you would want to see. Should you want to take the on off bus you can pick it up across the street from the hotel.

Bed too soft, and covers lumpy. Very nice room, spacious, quiet, nicely appointed, great TV, nice minibar, etc. Temp. control quiet and good. Staff polite and capable. Very historic building and location. Went on several tours recommended by concierge, all good.

The location of the hotel is amazing, and the staff were all very helpful. I was concerned staff of a 5* might be a bit snotty, but not at all. I felt the rooms lacked charm somewhat, and could be from any hotel in the world. Having grown up in Ireland, the Shelbourne was always seen as the pinnacle of luxury, and while the rooms were very nice, they were not special enough. Also, I missed tea and coffee facilities. And of far more concern was that £100 per night was taken from my credit card at check-in (so £300) as a preauthorisation for any charges. I've never had more than £50 taken, and that was for the entire stay. Despite checking out nearly 2 days ago, it's still on my card. Reception told me today when I phoned it would take 5 days for the block to be lifted. This isn't good enough and it ruined an otherwise enjoyable stay.

Have not stayed at The Shelbourne since its closure & restoration. The dated tired look it had aquired has gone & it has emerged vibrant ,exiting with the 'buzz' that only Dublin has. Full of young & 'old' obviously enjoying the Craic. Undoutebly the best hotel in the city,& of its type probably one of the best in Europe. I only wish I could aford it. The prices !!!

The Shelbourne is a beautiful hotel with an excellent city centre location. It was recently refurbished and the room I stayed in was a suite and very comfortable. The decor is traditional. The bar is lively with a welcoming atmosphere and there is a bustle about the hotel which makes it an interesting place to stay. The staff at reception are excellent and very accomodating. My only complaint was that it had no pool and the gym facilities were disappointing.

Absolutely wonderful hotel staffed by a wonderful enthusiastic and friendly team in every department from reception to restaurant. Thoroughly enjoyable stay with not an iota with which one could quibble. Unmmissable if you enjoy attentive and unobtrusive service in a truly lovely relaxing oasis of tranquility in the centre of the city.

Awesome hotel. I use to stay there in the early 90's and it's still just as perfect as it was then.

The Shelbourne Hotel is one of the finest hotels I have stayed in. Courtesy and service were excellent, as were the gym and swimming pool facilities. Food was excellent and unllike one or two previous reviews, and bearing in mind the age of the hotel, I found nothing wrong with the decor. I would like to particularly commend the front desk Manager, a charming lady from Washington who, I believe, is a valuable asset to the Shelbourne. I would most definately use it again.

This is an almost historic hotel situated in the best part of Dublin. It has been famous since opening way back in the early 19th century and has been the favourite haunt of the Irish landed gentry. It still quailfies as the best hotel in Dublin notwithstanding it's one and only original lift! The service provided by the Hall Porters in parking and retrieving guests' cars was perfect. The plumbing in our room lacked a plug for the bidet!
