The Scotsman Hotel Edinburgh

This hotel was luxurious with a traditional feel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Received a free upgrade which was a bonus. The room was lovely and the deep roll top bath set within a turret withe a great view was an unexpected lovely extra. Price for this 2 night stay was excellent, hope to be lucky enough to return to this hotel for another stay.

Booked an overnight stay through the internet after reading the excellent reviews. It was a treat for myself and my husband and his Aunt and Uncle who were staying with us for a couple of nights from Welwyn in Kent as they wanted to celebrate the New Year in Scotland. They also thought that the hotel was excellent and for what we paid for our ovenight stay was excellent value for money. We were also entitled to full use of the spa facilities which were also excellent. What made our stay special too we were treated like royalty the staff could not do enough for us and were on hand if we needed anything. We were upgraded from a study to a deluxe suite it was superb. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of looking for a special treat and the location is excellent. Definately book this hotel again in the future.

When we first arrived at the hotel, we were a little confused as there are multiple entrances but once we were inside it was fine as we were greeted by the wonderful staff. We got taken to our room and our view was amazing. We could see what felt like the whole of edinburgh. It is opposite waverly station and other wonderful things such as the dungeons and the shopping centre. If you walk up the steps next to the hotel you can visit the castle. The hotel room was very nice, but i was a little disappointed with the bed as they had just pushed two single beds together. This was slightly uncomfortable when lying on the middle of the bed. If you are tall then the bed would of been to short for you! The bathroom was really nice and the shower was devine. I've never really stayed in many hotels, so i don't have a lot to compare it to, but it was definitely worth the money and worth that time away. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody.

This is the second time we've stayed here and I'm delighted to say it's still as great as it was the first time. It's an excellent hotel in every aspect and having stayed in many of the best hotels in Edinburgh I would definitely recommend this as the very best of them all.

We chose this hotel for our wedding night and we could not have chosen a better hotel. The staff were incredibly helpful, courteous and friendly. They made us feel so special and welcome and our day became even more precious as we were upgraded to a stunning room. The attention to detail was outstanding, including a card congratulating us, rose petals etc Everything about this hotel is fabulous. We cannot thank The Scotsman Hotel enough.

Could do better. I was asked whether I had stayed before on check-in. Staff should know this before you arrive. This is standard good training. Irish Times that was delivered (charge £3.50 actual cost £1.00) was a day old. Not really hotels fault but needs to be rectified as 'not available'. Breakfast cereal bowl badly cracked. Should have been noticed by washer/dryer/serving staff and binned. Potential Health problem. No apology. Breakfast eggs not cooked on top - still raw also a hazard. I like the hotel, its accessability to town centre and the history and quirkiness of the hotel.

We spent one night at this hotel as a treat because we got a good rate on a room. The room was very comfortable, comfy bed, lovely duvet and the extra touches were lovely i.e bath robes, lovely shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. The staff were very nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet was fantastic. Overall this was a lovely experience. Would highly recommend this hotel.

The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive and really make the hotel. The location is central to all the main attractions - limiting the need for taxis. The only negatives were that the bed was small, the room was hot and internet access was a separate charge. Expect old world charm.

This hotel is in a fantastic location in the centre of Edinburgh. The quality of the rooms and service from the staff certainly were as would be expected of a 5* hotel. I had a really comfortable stay here and would certainly return again without hesitation. It also has a free spa and pool for guests- although I did not have the time to try them.

I can't fault the hotel at all. Service was exceptional as was food. The only grumble I would have is the noise from nearby North Bridge but that might depend on which room you are staying in. I would definitely recommend the Scotsman and look forward to going back.
