My friends and I went to Miami in August '11. The hotel desperately needs to be upgraded...the carpeting throughout the entire hotel is stained and smelly. We arrived at the hotel around 9pm. Once we entered our room (on the 2nd floor facing Ocean Drive) we smelled urine!! The stench of urine was coming from the pull out couch!!! We opened the couch and the ENTIRE MATTRESS WAS SOAKED IN URINE!!!! We pulled the mattress off and the URINE LEAKED ONTO THE FLOOR! It was disgusting!!! WHY WASN'T THIS NOTICED BY HOUSEKEEPING WHEN THE ROOM WAS CLEANED EARLIER THAT DAY???!!!!! We called the front desk to complain. The receptionist sent someone up to look at the NASTY MATTRESS! He sent up maintenance and housekeeping. They removed the couch and mattress from the room but left it right outside our door ALL NIGHT and ALL the next DAY!! We requested another room, but of course, there weren't any rooms left. We requested to speak to a member of management, but of course, the RECEPTIONIST was the MANAGER that night. So, we had to sleep in the SMELLY URINE room for a night!! We were moved to another room the next day but our experience with this hotel was already HORRID!! After, we were moved to our new room, I was curious to see if the URINE SOAKED mattress and couch were still in the hall outside the old room, and it WASN'T. I REALLY HOPE THEY DIDN'T RETURN IT TO THE ROOM!!!!! NEVER AGAIN WILL I STAY AT THIS HOTEL AND I HOPE NO ONE HAS TO EXPERIENCE BEAUTIFUL MIAMI LIKE THIS!!

This was my first time in Miami and I wasn't sure what to expect. I was a little disappointed in the condition this hotel was in. The location is great but the hotel is very run down and is barely 2 steps above a Motel 6. The valet parking is across the street and very slow. It is not worth $30 a day, but there is no other options for parking. The beds are futon thin and the do not have comforters, only sheets. For a cheap college getaway, this hotel is a great value. But for a nice resort feel hotel, book a place in Sunny Isles.

Our primary concerns when we were searching for a hotel were cleanliness, proximity to the beach and the nightlife, and a room with a refrigerator. (Hey, they're not everywhere). We were more than satisfied in the cleanliness and location arenas; the hotel has two pools that were very clean and really were as represented in the photos! The room was comfortable, more comfortable than a similarly priced hotel I stayed at the year before. We discovered that the couch in the living room area even had a pull-out bed in it! We didn't try it out, but I think it's worth mentioning! The only problem we had was the loud partying kids staying above us; the ceiling seemed paper-thin at 4 am when they were still living it up, but when we brought it to the attention of the folks at the front desk the next day, they kindly told us to just call right away and they would take care of it. We took them up on their offer the next night, and we had no more complaints after that! They were very accommodating and even waived the nightly fee due to the disruption. We ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant once; the nice woman who was working alone was, well, doing the job of probably 3 people so there was a little bit of a wait. Overall, we thought the service was excellent, and the man with the safari hat (wish we knew his name) was fantastic, so was [...] at the front desk, along with several other staff members. They really showed us great hospitality. I definitely recommend the Savoy Hotel, just remember to let them know if something isn't right. They will go out of their way to help make it so. I will definitely go back there. Did I mention the private beach access? Ocean steps away!!!! Also you don't have far to walk to see some of the really fun spots along Ocean Drive. Great value, Great location, Great hospitality.
