Ideally located right next to York railway station visitors are just two hours from London and Edinburgh. The A1 is just minutes away from the Royal Hotel York and Leeds/Bradford International Airport just 40 minutes by car. Visitors are highly recommended to take in a play at York Theatre Royal or dare to have a drink in The Golden Fleece pub which dates back to 1503 is said to be haunted!

Dissapointed by cleanliness of room on arrival, not hoovered or dusted. Only had Table d'hote menu available in restaurant though Guest Information stated A La Carte as well. Requested a steak which arrived luke warm, then on leaving the Restaurant we were informed there would be a £5 supplement added to the bill for the privilage.

The food for breakfast and dinner was excellent. The whole hotel was fab, the only disadvantage being the decor in the room seemed a little tired.

Excellent hotel, situated centrally for all York attractions and conveniently close to the station. Staff charming, rooms spacious, would recommend a stay!
