the Hotel is in the heart of the city excellent location, close to shops and restaurants, the staff were very helpful only problem was the parking, did not state that it was limited availability if you stayed out late it was hard to find a place to park the car.

The room was nice and clean, and a nice hotel. Would suit somebody who is out in the pubs all night. If you wish to stay in and watch TV, there is a problem, of the 23 free view channels on UK TV the Rougemont had 5, only the basic. Unless you want to watch the news all night don't stay there. I did speak to the manager, he was very polite, but the excuse was rather lame.

An excellent location, close to the tourist centre of Exeter. The price is reasonable if you book in advance and manage to secure a good deal. The rack rate is too expensive. The service is good but hotel facilities could be better eg there are no fridges in the rooms and no ice making facilities.

Good central location, but very unimpressed by the dirty plates on offer at breakfast.

We were disappointed that, having booked a deluxe room, we were given a room worse than the standard room we had last year. The bathroom was also disappointing, in that there was quite a lot of mould and evidence of a lack of cleaning. There was a thick layer of dust on part of the towel rail, which was constantly heated, so that the bathroom was unbearably hot. Overall, a nice hotel in a great location, but standards are not as high as they should have been.

Needing direction we phoned and got through to a dippy receptionist who failed to mention that the hotel was covered in scaffolding. So we ended up driving past it twice, whilst looking for a sign saying "Thistle Hotel". Only when we phoned the THIRD time did she mention that the building is covered in scaffolding. The same dippy receptionist tried to charge us for the room, despite us having booked through Hotel Club. We showed her the paperwork and read out the instructions. Fortunately she was not on duty the following morning, when we queried the confusion over whether breakfast was included in the price. We believed it was and so did the staff. The dippy receptionist had entered the booking to the contrary. Fortunately the hotel put this right. Despite paying for a delux room, we think we were given a standard room. We'll be in touch with the hotel about this. Let's hope I don't have to speak to the dippy receptionist again - I may lose the will to live.

The food received from room service was terrible, soggy bread with the sandwiches. Shower curtain in the bathroom was really dirty.

Noise from students/teenagers until 1am if you happen to sleep in a room facing the Exeter road. The fire alarm was falsely activated at 12.15 am while staying there. Everyone was evacualed!
