The Regent Esplanade Zagreb Guest Reviews
The hotel is perfect for train travel since it is almost across from the train station. It is a beautiful hotel (only 5 star hotel in Zagreb) with old atmosphere but very new and up to date amenities and bathrooms. Very high class! It is a 10 minute walk to the city center and all tourist locations or a 2 stop tram. You can obtain a tram in front of the train station (2 minute walk) for less than a dollar to go to the city center. Everyone speaks English at the hotel and are very helpful. Many very very important people stay and have stayed here, it also use to be the hotel that the passenger.

Its five star rating will disappoint Westerners. A hike to the upper city. We stayed because we went off season, and wanted a hotel right next to train station. Breakfast extremely expensive, even by U.S. standards.

I arrived in Zagreb just as it began to rain torrentially. Normally this would have been disappointing, but the lobby bar was so gorgeous I spent several very pleasant hours writing postcards and sipping coffee. When I finally decided to venture out, the concierge provided me with a huge umbrella and a map, having identified the sights of the town as well as the locations of a few places I needed to visit. The hotel has the elegance of a very grand hotel, but the intimacy of a tiny boutique hotel.

This is an outstanding luxury hotel, ideally situated for seeing Zagreb attractions. The historic property is beautifully and subtly appointed. Most important, it has first-rate friendly, enthusiastic, and efficient service--something we did not always find at our other luxury hotels in Croatia. We loved dining on the terrace overlooking an adjacent park. The hotel restaurant gave us a wonderful gourmet dinner of contemporary Croatian cuisine and excellent breakfasts from a full buffet table. We only regretted we didn't eat more dinners there as it was our best food in Zagreb. Car valet service was most prompt as was check-out. All questions about touring were thoughtfully and thoroughly answered. After driving through Croatia, we decided to spend our last night again at the Regent Esplanade. This is a hotel that has carefully considered every detail to make a stay absolutely first-rate for their guests. Would that they were all like this! I loved it.

A genuine 5-star hotel at a reasonable price. The location is ideally located for the railway station, albeit around a kilometre (10-15 minute walk or hop on a tram) from the main square. Restaurants better than expected. Would use again.
