The location is awesome The staff were very helpful However, its very noisy. One day, I woke up 6 in the morning because there was a loud music from the lobby. Also, the construction added to the noise since they are doing renovation.

hotel is charging daily service fee for nothing. The internet is very weak almost no internet. I will not go back to this hotel or advice any body to live in it.

We stayed at the new poolside cabana room and the room was very modern and clean and chic. The size was a bit smaller than I was expecting but no complaints here. The balcony that comes with each of the cabana rooms was such a nice addition. The pools were very nice and it was never crowded. There were maybe 20 people in the pool at most at one time but normally more like 5-10 people. The beach staff was accommodating and worked hard to make sure there were chairs and umbrellas around. The chairs and cushions could definitely use some updating but the staff made sure to use 2 cushions per chair to make it more comfortable. We tried the bar (but not the restaurant) and the bartender was extremely friendly. Food at the bar was delicious -- and they certainly are generous with the portions! Would definitely recommend.

At the national you constantly have friendly helpful employees making sure your stay is perfect. From the minute we arrived we had wonderful service. The lobby is clean and neat. The concierge was always helpful. The pool was never too crowded and the servers and bartenders always attentive. The service on the beach was great too. The only downside was the chairs on the beach seemed to be getting old and they sunk down extremely low. Also the room cleaning was not consistent and more than a day went by without clean towels in our room. Everything else was perfect. The location is right where you want to be in south beach and the price wasn't what you would pay at some of the nearby hotels. I will definitely return.

The National Hotel Miami

Our 7th time at the National. Started great, nice and good value compared to other options. But has been going in the wrong direction for seems like a little over a year now, each stay having a couple more issues than the last. Problems began immediately when we tried to check in. We reserved a cabana room [...], the hotel assigned us a regular room. After about 15 minutes of discussion, where I had to show staff via my phone that I had booked a cabana room I was finally given one. I was told I was lucky, this is the last one, and we will upgrade at no charge. No Charge! I paid already for a cabana room. [...]And I did not get a good cabana room. The closet in my cabana room was so small as to be virtually useless, but I was stuck with it since it was the "last one." I have stayed in two other cabana rooms and the closets were hardwalled walk in closets about 7 ft long and 2 ½ feet deep. No walk in this time, just a pretty partial board box across from the bed that looked like it belonged in a dorm room. About 26 inches wide and 20 inches deep, and it was already tasked with holding extra pillow/blanket/safe/iron/ironing board. Wound up with more clothes placed here and there around the room than in the closet and suitcases just stuck where you could find. Made the room seem messy all the time. If you stay in a cabana room I think this may be the case for all of the rooms on that end of the cabana wing, I think they all end in 01, ie 1401, 1501.1601, etc. The pools are beautiful and inviting. But service at the pools is always hit and miss depending on who you get, you may go hours, literally 2 hours, without being approached by someone unless you ask. While your neighbor may be receiving excellent service. Service in the room, my mini bar did not have vodka when I arrived. I ordered ice and asked for some vodka for the mini bar. I was offered a 375 ml bottle for $45.00. Outrageous. I walked down the street to a liquor store and bought the same bottle for $20.00, still too much when I can get at home for $15.00, but beggars can't be choosers. When I got back to the room, still no ice, waited at bit then called again, somehow the ice did not get ordered, but would get it to me. Gave up by the time the ice got there and then saw there was no club soda in the mini bar either and just went down to the blues bar. I will note here that at no time during our 4 nights did staff ever put vodka into the mini bar, or club soda for that matter.I have given 2/3 ratings on amenities and locations because while there are nice, many very nice hotels are located right there with just as nice or nicer amenities.Good service and drinks at the blues bar, and the bar used to have a really great bluesy atmosphere. Jazz, old movies show high on the wall (volume muted in favor of the music). But this time the first night, VH1 on the projector instead of old movies and bad music it ruined the experience. We usually stop back in there after dinner for a night cap, not this time. We had already planned to spend the 3rd night in the blues bar rather than go out, and tried to, but it was even worse, ESPN and rock and role music, could not get it changed, so we just left our drinks and our food uneaten. I saw one other couple leave also over the same issue after they stated please change it, we want to hang out here for a while. The hotel should be embarrassed to charge for beach use, the chairs are useless, This trip we were only able use the beach 2 of the 4 days we were there as the chairs are so torn, tattered and broken as to not be usable. My neck still hurts, spent the rest of the time by the pool in nice longer with no pad and 1 towel. In May we could only able to stand it for 1 ½ of the 3 days there, but as it appeared then that many of the umbrellas were new we thought surely the chairs will be fine by next trip. You used to get 2 towels there, both at the beach or by the pool, but I guess in a cost savings measure have cut people down to one t
