We had a warm welcome! Feel at home in the clean, well equipped room. The gardens give the feeling of being in a forest - mile away from civilization! Breakfast was great and supper at the Carnivores Restaurant is a must.

The staff, level of service and facilities are excellent. If you require a secure , secluded "getaway" its definitely worth a visit. If, on the other hand you are seeking a wild social life involving other guests etc , then its not really designed for that purpose. The Spa and the "Carnivore" are reknowned, and there are notable places to visit locally.

Whilst I understand we would be staying in a STANDARD room, I found the room the be sub standard. We could not even shower in the room as the shower door could not close and the water went all over the floor. The finishes in the room were not good and the bathroom walls had three different shades of white painted on them which were indicative of a very bad touch up job. Food great and Spa facilities very good as was the service.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, the service overall was good the only thing was that my room was only cleaned after 15h00 which was a bit of a bummer. Overall it was fantactic, what a lovely place - have already recommended it to others

You could quite easily get lost in this cocoon of a hotel as it was so peaceful, out of the way and well appointed. I wish I had longer to stay or it was just that little bit more conveniently located.

Whilst we only had 1 night at this hotel we thoroughly enjoyed it. It is in a beautiful setting & excellent value for money. It was a bit costly to get to the hotel from the airport but once there it was great value for money. It's proximity to a game park allowed an easy visit within limited time. The staff were very friendly & helpful & unlike many other places in Africa the facilities all worked well!

Selected this hotel because didn't want to stay in Johannesburg for 1 night between flights. It is a distance from Johannesburg International airport about 1hour, but it is a beautiful relaxed hotel with character. Rooms have a real African feel set in lovely gardens. Also in the grounds, had great dinner at Carnivores (different african meats) worthwhile cost Zar175( $aus 30). Next morning had treatment at spa, just heaven and only Zar 350. So turned overnight stop to great time.

Nice exotic hotel, like a jungle village. Very far away! 100 USD taxi/ 90 min from the airport. Cool restaurant! Poor service, the staff forgot to give message when we where to be picked up for our safari, therefore no breakfast before a 8 hour drive.

The hotel is in a fantastic location and has good facilities. Rooms are not kept very clean and we had an incident where a fan was brought into our room while we were out and a bottle of wine was knocked over and left broken. When housekeeping was called they did a very poor job of cleaning up the mess. The next day when cleaning was again done we still found that pieces of broken bottle had still not been removed nor had the floor been vacumed and wiped. I would return to the hotel ony because of the spa and the outdoor facilities but would not really recommend it to others as from a cleanliness point of view a lot needs to be done.

This was a very nice country hotel, although some of the furnishings were less than prisitine, the ambience and the feel was great.

We stayed here for 5 nights. Fabulous hotel with excellent and friendly staff. About 45 minutes away from OR tambo airport but near enough to places we wanted to visit. They also recommended us the tour company which has provided us with excellent day to day trips (Boateng Gape tour). Wonderful selection for breakfast provided in Summerhouse restaurant. Dining at Carnivore restaurant is a must try experience for the meat eaters. The night drinks we have at the Gin Box was just the perfect way to end the night. Drinks were dirt cheap and comes with free bags and bags of crisps. This hotel is more like a resort, an oasis of calm and peace. The swimming pool, spa and sauna were the bonuses.
