The Mad Hatter Hotel London
4 out of 5

A very traditional B ritish pub which retains a pub feel despite serving great food.Location is good for exploring the Thames enbankment area a short walk away. Rooms are small but comfortable with above average toiletries and facilities, ask for a room at the back because there is a bit of noise from the road. Not much going on in the evening, The pub is lively until about 10pm but a bit quiet after that but there is plenty to do a tube or short taxi ride away. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would defininately recommend

a good hotel, some of the staff were great others (behind the bar) were a little short on cutomer service skills. The food I had was very good. I did think the net curtains were in desperate need of a wash. Would stay there again if I could get it at the right price. Would not be happy to pay £225 / night - which was the advertised room rate in reception.

Easily located from the Blackfriars Bridge. Nice Pub atmosphere with good food. Super breakfast (free at weekends with our deal). Carpet and nets could do with a clean but at least the 2 windows opened to let in some welcomed fresh air (and obviously traffic noise). Reasonable sized twin room with good bathroom facilities. Reception very slow - one member of staff only, always busy on the phone.

Location was perfect for work but otherwise very disappointed with the hotel, had the feel of being more of a large B&B (an old one at that) than a hotel. Rooms were very dated with no aircon and you could hear every door on your level being opened and shut. Needless to say I would be returning.

I was attending a play at the National theatre and this hotel is a short walk away. Staff were polite and helpful. Wi Fi throughout the hotel was great. The bar area is lovely and the food is good. My room was ideal; spacious, very clean, big comfy bed, iron and ironing board, bath and shower, nice toiletries, tea and coffee in room, everything I needed. It was a very hot day and my room had been supplied with a large free-standing fan which proved a God-send as the night was humid. Breakfast is not included in the price but ranges from 8 to 14 pounds on the bar menu (a tad expensive)? I have no complaints with this hotel and would love to stay there again. I love the location, there are many pubs and places to eat nearby and the Southwark area has such character.

Excellent location, surprisingly quiet considering that it is close to the main road. Great breakfast, very helpful staff.

Your otherwise fantastic hotel would benefit from having airconditioning installed in the bedrooms. OK - it's not your responsibility that London was extremely hot this weekend, but still!

Very much enjoyed the stay and would stay again. The people were lovely and helpful (we got stranded for an additional night due to the ash cloud and they were extremely helpful), the rooms were large for UK standards and very clean, and the pub on the main floor was fabulous, and the food very good. The breakfast was great as well - huge and tasty. I plan on staying there the next time I am in London.

This is a small modern hotel in a great location - almost within direct sight of St Pauls. The staff were very helpful, the pub on the ground floor was cosy and spotless. It is a great place for a weekend stay.

Excellent hotel should you need to be in the South Bank area. Receptionist couldn't have been more helpful, 6 x real ales on sale(!), food good, room good. Just avoid the grumpy night porter who seemed to think it wasn't his job to do anything and you'll love it.

Lovely "countryside" inn at good location on the South Bank of River Thames. Very friendly service, excellent breakfast, delicious Fuller´s ales. A computer with a printer would be nice, we were a little desperate to find an internet cafe with a printing facility to be able to do our web check-in with Ryanair.
