Location
The Lost Camel Hotel Ayers Rock is located in Yulara, Australia. It is within 6 km of Ayers Rock Airport. A half hour drive takes guests of Uluru or Ayers Rock and the Kata Tjuta National Park. The Sounds of Silence Experience is just one tour managed by the resort. It features dining, and an astronomy show overlooking Ayers Rock.

Uluru/Ayers Rock is a site of significant interest to those interested in indigenous politics. What I found disappointing not just with Lost Camel but indeed with all the hotels in the resort was the complete lack of visible celebration/acknowledgment/respect for the indigenous owners of the land upon which so many thousands of tourists now tread - land which many of us understand has been 'handed back' to the original owners? Having said this, staff at Lost Camel were superbly helpful, friendly, and all knew the area well. I would certainly recommend this hotel!Of all the hotels in Uluru/Ayers Rock the Lost Camel is by far the most well appointed (with respect to its location within the entire resort), the most reasonably priced, the most suitably designed (rooms were minimalist but absolutely sufficient).

Just goes to show that you don't have to pay a fortune to get good accomodation. great room with excellent air conditioning. Big pool and a short walk to town center. Would stay again

The rooms were small but suitable for their purpose. The bathroom area was always kept clean and the bed linen was clean. The overall cleanliness of the room was poor. The walls and skirting boards were dirty. The carpet was grimy, the daily invasion of bugs were not cleaned away thoroughly each day. The pool was clean, the pool side furniture was shabby, neglected and in some cases broken. The food provided by the resort was of a good standard and reasonably priced. Due to the lack of competition and viable alternatives it could have been worse.

My stay was a business trip, so I didn't really have time to appreciate the area, but the hotel was very clean and the facilities were good. I liked the option of being able to dine in any of the other hotels easily and reception staff at all hotels were very helpful.
