the location is perfect. we can walk to a lot of great SF locals from the hotel. we did not like our room so they upgraded us to a corner room on the 6th floor that looked over geary. that was sweet! free, good breakfast ,staff is great.. we stay here because there are no surprises. just good service and a great room.

A few friends decided we wanted to go to San Fran for a weekend. We have never been and I was looking for a hotel that was reasonably priced and close to union square. There was 4 of us that went. We are a younger crowd, 25-27 years old and looking for a good time. The chilled shots of Tequila at check in was a bonus! I believe the gentleman that checked us in was named Steven, want to give him big kudos! He was awesome! We spoke to him every time we passed him in the lobby. He was very friendly, always asked us about our days and nights out. He provided us great suggestions and was always smiling. He made us feel very welcomed from day 1 and through the trip. Our room was small but nice. We booked a 2 room suit, one king bed and one queen. Although the room was not huge it was fine for us. TVs in each room was nice, the painting on the ceiling and "Eagles" lyrics on the wall was nice also. The beds where super comfortable also. The area was nice also, very short walk to union square. We stayed out pretty late every night and always walked back to the hotel, we always felt safe. The Jones bar next door as a great outside area to have drinks and a bite to eat. We also enjoyed High Tide bar across the street, it was a dive bar with friendly bartenders. The hotel also had complimentary wine and cheese everyday. We enjoyed it our 2nd day there, it was a nice touch. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would recommend it to others. Good time.

Stayed on a Wednesday night in November. Staff was quite helpful with me and watched my stuff while I parked my car next door. Room was clean, of decent size and otherwise un-noteworthy. Bathroom was bright and pleasing. I did have two problems: 1) The wifi was slow, event after trying different routers (they have about 12 running that you can chose from); 2) There was a fair bit of street noise carried up to my 5th floor room and through the old (uninsulated) window. The noise died down around 11pm, which made sleep possible until the garbage truck awoke me at 4am. Breakfast buffett was OK. I had cereal and yogurt and I saw there were pancakes and DIY waffels, as well as some fruit by the piece. Conclusion - if you need a budget place to stay in SF, this is a good option to consider. But, there might be better.

We arrived on a warm day and the room was quite hot there is no air con and for the rest of the stay the room remained that way, I think it really needs air con. It also was a bit noisy being on the main street. The rooms were cute and clean, good location as it was right amongst it all, but as I said noisy for sleeping. Staff weren' t very friendly.

Free Wi-Fi & breakfast were great, but the room was very average. Towels & shower had "foreign" hairs on them on arrival. Better hotels at similar prices.

Pretty convenient location, and for SF, not a bad price. Pretty creaky old building, and I think my window was painted part-way open, so I couldn't shut it all the way. Important tip: do NOT go 2 blocks west--that's a really dicey area called Tenderloin. Google it and you'll see what I mean.

Good value for money and close access to Union Square. Easy access to public transport etc. Only problem being the antiquated lift which broke down two days out of our stay of three. Friendly and helpful staff.

The location of this hotel is fine, a few blocks to Union Square a bit further to China town and not far from the cable car and bus lines. We saw most major attactions and utilized bus, cable car and taxis. Our room was adequate, it was close to the elevator and I thought it would be very noisy, but it was not and we slept through the night. Complaints...The bed had a "sink hole" in the middle. The ceiling fan squeaked and looked like it would spin right out of the ceiling and the WiFi did not work anywhere but in the lobby or mezzanine level of the hotel. Breakfast was...adequate. It bothered me a LOT that they just don't get another waffle iron. The one used has a can of Pam next to it, but every single person I watched had to pry their waffle out of the maker in pieces! If they were using their fingers, the staff would hand customers a knife to assist in prying out the waffles...get another one! Having an airport shuttle would be very nice, the $50 cab ride to and from the airport was not so great. We really enjoyed the PineCrest cafe for lunch and breakfast...YUM! We tried to eat at Max's which appeared awesome from the outside, but service was slow and servers took a long time to acknowldege us so we left and found the PineCrest...which was packed but had immediate super service with super food!

Small boutique hotel but it was exactly what we were looking for. It was in a fairly good location....close walking distance to Union Square. Staff were helpful with travel advice for around the city which we took advantage of.

We found our room to be clean and comfortable. The Hotel is located within easy walking distance to Union Square ( 3 blocks ) where there is all sorts of public transport. There is a PC with internet access available FOC for hotel guests. Our only "complaint", although it really didn't matter that much, was the upstairs neighbours were walking around and dragging furniture over the floor boards all night. I'd def recommend to travellers wanting something not too cheap not too pricey.

We had a lovely stay at the Best Western. The room was lovely and very comfortable. The main area was also very nice, we didn't eat in the restaurant but it was busy every night so a good indication that the food was popular. The staff were very friendly and helpful including Duane and Armando. Each evening from 5-6 they served wine and cheese in the lobby for free so that was a nice touch after a hard days sight seeing. The location was excellent, a couple of steps from Union Square so had the shops, restaurants, bars and theatres on your door step. I reccomend the Grande Cafe bar for it's happy hour, Swig for a cosy drink by the fire and Clift for cocktails, all of which are on the hotels road - Geary St. Attractions wise you must visit Napa and Sausalito - the open bus tour was very useful too for getting to grips with the different areas and getting a good shot of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Rooms were small but well furnished. The Hotel has free WiFi and hosts a cheese and wine for guests each night. The location is great as its only a short stroll to Union Square and the cable cars.
