The Grand Hotel Minneapolis - A Kimpton Hotel Guest Reviews

4 out of 5

The staff members were personable and courteous. The bed was a bit too soft and restaurant hours limited, but still the best hotel stay I ever had.

Very nice decor, bathroom are a little small and lack counter space but nice rooms. Good downtown location. Free wine from 5 to 6 every night is a nice.

I'm very pleased to give the Grand Hotel Minneapolis top marks. Before arriving, I had assumed that it might be slightly 'stuffy' - but how wrong I was. Staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming from the moment I checked in. Room was spotless and well equipped (the only thing it lacked for me was a coffee maker or kettle). Hotel facilities were well above average: the limited opening hours of the business centre were off-set by free in-room internet access (just register for loyalty scheme, but this is free) and understand business centre facilities are in any case in process of being improved. The 'wine tasting' hour is just one example of how guests were made to feel welcome (and not as though they are merely being squeezed constantly for an extra pound or dollar) . Other hotel chains please take note: I will be actively seeking out Kimpton's hotels in future, as they clearly know how to ensure that their guests leave not merely content, but happy.

The hotel is conveniently located about 2 blocks from the lite rail system, which is wonderful. We took a 3-hour bus tour of the twin cities and would recommend this highly. We visited both the Walker Art Center and the Minneapolis Institute of Art and both were outstanding. Bike riding is very popular and the hotel provides bikes even though the city rents them for $5 a day. The food was delicious, the people super friendly and we felt very safe being downtown. A fun, relaxing stay and would recommend it to friends.

The Hotel is Modern with a touch of Old School Class. The staff is amazing and they went out of there way to ensure we had a great experience in their hotel. If the hotel has one drawback it would be that the pool is a lap pool for the health club. Children who cannot swim will need a life jacket. The pool does not have a shallow end for children to swim or play. The staff was very knowledgeable about how to get around and things to do. I will definitely be back. The Hotel has great in room dining as well as a wonderful restaurant on the 2nd floor. The bar looked very nice but I dint have time to stop in. The other downfall would be parking, you have to pay to park in the parking garage.
