Some noise from the club opposite Saturday night but it didn't keep us awake....might have done if we'd had the window open. The tea/coffee and the singe biscuit supplied was not what I would call generous!! Very comfortable bed though and good clean bathroom facilities.

This was our third stay at The George Hotel and on the previous stays we have had a room on a higher floor with good views of the castle. This time we were on the first floor and looked out onto a side street and bins! Having said that it was dark when we arrived and we had come to celebrate Hogmanay not look out of the window. The rppm it's self was very nice, clean and comfortable and with nice decor. We had a lovely dinner in the Tempus resteurant as usual and breakfast was excellent the next morning too. The staff at the George are friendly and helpful especially the waiters in the Tempus.

We booked in on 23 December for one night before flying out to the Middle East for Christmas. Had to be up at 3.45am on 24th to catch an early flight. There was a wedding in the hotel and we were put in the same area as a number of overnight wedding guests. The noise in the corridor outside our room went on all night! Totally thoughtless behaviour by these guests and thoughtless planning by hotel reception. We got no sleep at all! The hotel was far from full and the staff knew we had to get up and away early. We left around 4.00am with 4 pieces of luggage in a pre-booked taxi. Two of the bags were pretty heavy but neither of the two male hotel staff on duty offered any help whatsoever with the luggage or even offer us a trolley! This was not our first stay at The George but it will probably be our last!

Stayed 2 nights at the George and had a wonderful time, the location of the hotel is perfect for a short stay in Edinburgh. Close to all shops and fabulous restaurants. Will not hesitate to stay there when I return to Edinburgh.

Perfect central location for rail travel, sightseeing, restaurents and shops. Only down side was that there is no longer somewhere quiet to have a drink as the bar was noisy and crowded. I last stayed here several years ago but the peaceful whisky bar is now gone. We stayed on a 'room only' basis so can't comment on the restaurent. The George makes a really good base for a visit to Edinburgh and the staff that we encountered were very pleasant and helpful.

Hotel foyer was of a high standard, unfortunately the room did not live up to our 4 star expectations. It was cramped, the bed dipped in the middle and we were kept awake between 1am and 4am by the noise outside. Disappointed! The room was clean, decor was fine. Comfy pillows. The bathroom was nice although my Luke warm shower was a bit of a let down in the morning.

Very comfortable stay. Would have been even better if there had been car parking on site. Once we arrived we found a hotel brochure stating that we could have paid a lot less than we did if we had booked direct with the hotel, therefore we felt a little "gutted"!

we stay at the George about four times a year and it never disapoints lovely rooms ideally placed in shopping area and the ambiance is superb. Sunday we had a drink in the Tempus bar and there was live music on which was very good which one drink led to five but it was great entertainment roll on our next weekend break.

We got a bargain rate and stayed at the George a weekend before Christmas. I e-mailed the hotel before arrival and asked for a an executive twin on a high floor and received a prompt reply that confirmed my request. The room was reasonably spacious, had a largish swanky bathroom and great, comfortable beds. There was no view from the 3rd floor window and the room showed signs of wear and tear in the usual spots. You cannot beat the hotel for location, it's within walking distance all the attractions Edinburgh has to offer. All in all a very pleasant stay.

This hotel was elegant and well appoiinted. The staff was very friendly from the moment we walked in to our last goodbye. The room was immaculate and looked after every day (we stayed 6 nights). The bed was comfortable and the atmosphere could be regulated nicely; plus the heating/air was very quiet. Full Scottish beakfast was plentiful and excellent, again with friendly and attentive service. This was an excellent location in New Town: George Street near St. Andrew's Square -- an easy walk to old town, close to shopping and restaurants. We would definitely go back!

- Good Location: This hotel located on the George street just a 5 mins away from princes. - Nice staff: Staff is polite and nice however they quite busy all the time because the hotel is really fully booked. - Clean room with compact size We stayed in executive double bed room. Room is clean however to trade with good location room size is not really big.

It was my 1st time in Edinburgh, and had just one night and two days to enjoy the city. The George Hotel staff was excellent, gave me a room with a great view, and took the time to highlight the best things to see in the short time I had. I've already recommended this hotel to friends in Dublin, and would definitely stay again.

Came from London on the train with my college aged daughter. Easy short walk from the station. Great location to walk to tour buses, shopping & the old city. Staff was professional and FRIENDLY. Arrived very early, so we left our luggage and visited the city. Came back in the evening to check into one of the best rooms I have have ever stayed in. Small by US standards but beautifully appointed with color choices, lighting, lush linens, furniture and a nice deep soaking tub & shower. The great surprise was the view! Opened the curtains to an illuminated stained glass church window and more of beautiful Edinburgh. To top it off, we had a glass of complimentary champagne to apologize for the scafolding outside. (Loved the utili kilts on bell hops.)
