Great hotel to stay. Easy access to shopping malls and makan places.

We have stayed in the Federal Hotel for our last 3 visits to KL because of its location (within walking distance from the SIN-KL coach office/station, shopping centres, local foodstalls, MRT lines & Chinatown night bazaar, etc). The hotel offers simple clean rooms with free wifi. From our past experience, we have learnt to ask for a room with an external view (rather than a room facing the internal wall) & at a higher floor (because of the noise from the karaokes, busy streets at night). The one-way main road facing the hotel is still experiencing heavy slow traffic because of the road works since our last 3 stays. So it is advisable not to take a cab from directly outside the hotel to avoid paying fares while staying in the stationary taxi. We had always book a room at Federal Hotel without daily breakfast in order to try the many variety of local food around the hotel (eg along Jalan Alor directly across the hotel, or at Chinatown, a short distance from the hotel).

I was given 3 different rooms during the check-in, all of which were in a messy state. I was then upgraded to a deluxe room, which was also dirty and had cockroaches crawling around.

The location is very good for shopping and wandering around. Closed to restaurants and hawker food .

Very near to convenient stores, restos and MTR. Area is also good because Bukit Bintang is the best place in KL. Hotel is clean and they have a very good service.--Rod Masukat/ Philippines
