I've stayed at the Congress before. The original sections of the hotel are lovely. This time they put me in "Buckingham Tower", a building attached to the Congress. The carpet was terrible, the air conditioning struggled to keep up, (It was 80 degrees outside) the ice machine in the hall leaked all over the floor and there was an unidentifiable odor. I don't think I'll go back.

The hotel was clean and service was quick. It is within easy walking distance of some of Chicago's most famous attractions including Millennium Park and many shopping and dining opportunities. Despite being in a busy area, it was peaceful, quiet and serene inside for the entire stay. Overall a great value and excellent location to explore Chicago.

I booked 2 rooms through your site. Each room was to be a queen standard room. I called the hotel 2 weeks before to tell them that we along with our couple friends would like to be next to each other. She put that down on our reservations. When we arrived, not only were we not next to each other, we were in total opposite wings of the hotel. Our room was a small queen room, but, the toilet didn't flush. We were then upgraded to a King room which was right next to our friends. Our friends' room was also a king room from the very beginning and about twice the size of our's. Why would we be charged the same amount of money and booked the same rooms and us be given a small queen room originally and our friends be given the very spacious king room? That doesn't make sense. It was very disappointing that that occurred. I'm just happy that our toilet didn't flush so that we got moved up to a decent sized room.

The rooms are very big, motel is in a great location, and the motel has a vintage charm. Alot of value for the money.

Customer Service at the hotel was not good and the hotel needs to be drastically renovated.

Yes the rooms are small and a little outdated, but for the price and the location, it is so worth it. The staff is very friendly, the hotel is clean and comfortable, this is the second time that I have stayed here and I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

It's an old hotel and you can see it in the size of the rooms, decor and the overall feel. However, if you looking for location as I was you can't beat the price.

Overall I was pleased. Close to Millennium Park, "The Cloud Gate" just south of The Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue and walking distance to the Loop, Chicago's vein. Rooms were clean, staff was nice. The only bad thing is Internet is through an Ethernet cable in the room and is $10 for 24-hours access.

The hotel was in a great location, near shops and restaurants and everything was in walking distance or a very affordable cab. We took a cab from the airport for around $25 and were set for the weekend. The lobby and hotel were beautiful with tall ceilings and gorgeous historic features. Cons were one of the elevators broke and on New Years Eve we ended up climbing all 9 flights to our room due to the long line for the working elevator. The room was comfortable and clean but it was very hot. We had all the windows open and turned off the heat but it only made it a little better. Those were both minor inconveniences and I would definitely stay here again based on the price, friendly staff and location.

The hotel was wonderful, very historic! The proximity to everything we wanted to do was perfect, if you don't feel like walking everywhere there is a cab stand right outside the hotel, with cab drivers who dont make you scared for your life! The concierge was incredibly friendly. I will stay here again.

First off, the location is perfect! Right in the heart of everything! The structure is gorgeous, marble floors, old time elegance all throughout the hotel. Staff was quick, efficient and friendly. The room was AMAZING! We had a lakeside king and the view was BEAUTIFUL! The bed was huge and comfortable. We fell in love with this hotel. Perfect place to stay if you are wanting to walk around and see Chicago but come back and really feel safe and clean in your room. Love it and highly recommend!

So my stay here was on a whim and during the start of the cold weather, so staying close to downtown was critical. The price was good. The place feels like a part of Chicago history with the walls, carpeting, architecture, and furniture. I had a great view of Chicago from my room but there was something missing in terms of the politeness and warmth of the staff.

Overall, we really enjoyed this hotel. It was very convenient to transit, the park, museums, etc. It had a beautiful view and was very cozy. Our only complaints - the bedding was a little stiff. If they could update the mattresses/pillows, would be great. Also, the hotel had some premium channels like HBO, but it didn't have some of the basic cable channels most people enjoy, like Comedy Central. Price was great. Interior is beautiful. Charming historic building.

The Congress Plaza Hotel at Grant Park needed some upkeep - starting with the lights missing on the front sign. There were hotel employee's picketing the front door, so entering meant crossing the picket line. The lobby was beautiful - very grand. The room was clean, but had chipped paint in several places. In addition to wood being chipped, the desk in the room was chipped too. I didn't have young kids with me, but if I had I would have been concerned with potential lead poisening. The bathroom was newly updated and nice. Overall a great location, and a clean room, but needing some TLC.
