Stayed here for 3 nights while in Miami. They blast the music every night from the bar in the lobby so loud that it sounds like you're standing next to a giant speaker in your room. I get that a lot of people in Miami come to party but if you're in need for a quiet night for any reason YOU WON'T GET IT HERE! The rooms are also pretty scrappy and very small. Got charged for $6 for a bottle of water from room service that I didn't drink. Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else.

This hotel is NOT what it looks like on line, and it's horrible. It's dirty. My comforter was stained with something that was sitting there for a while. The lighting is terrible. The walls are dirty and some had dents in them. The tv was from the 1980s. It's a very loud hotel and it's not even on ocean drive. People screaming and yelling into the night. The desk staff all have attitudes like you're bothering them. The only good thing about this hotel is they offer free beach chairs (for now - until they probably charge for that too a few days from now). ALSO and this is VERY important!! DO NOT EVER USE CHEAP TICKETS!!!!! WE USED THEM TO CHECK INTO SANCTUARY HOTEL AND WE GOT THERE AND THEY HAD NO RECORD OF US COMING AND THEY WERE SOLD OUT!!! CHEAP TICKETS IS THE WORST SERVICE EVER!!! Even the man at the desk said they get this atleast 2-3 times a week!!! I went for my sis 40th surprise bday with my dad.. and we lost literally an entire day sitting on the phone with them trying to figure it out!! If you go to Miami - spend the extra money to a. book through the hotel directly and b. step up to the Delano or W or even Shore club hotel, DO NOT stay in the boutiques, they are beyond awful!!!

Starting with a chaotic 3 slot parking area on the sidewalk, being quickly asked to either move or check in, I made it the front desk during their hour long free happy hour every night. It was loud and near the front desk. My room was in a different building. They have 3 bars and a layout of 3 building where you have to walk through the loud bars to access the rooms or the elevators. I barely made it to get 1 free drink and went upstairs. Upon entering a room barely bigger than an a larger walk in closet, I almost checked out imediately because I couldn't find the TV stashed up on a shelf by the ceiling. 2 people better get along very well to survive in these rooms, there is barely enough room for one to navigate, yet alone two people. I will admit though that the bed was very comfortable and the free toiletries were top quality. The mini bar was expensive as was everything else on the property. When I asked for a generic bourbon and cola, I handed the bartender a $20 and was shocked when I received only $6 and some change back and even more shocked when I learned that I was poured a Maker's Mark and Coke. The food was good and expensive as well. The service was fine with one major exception. They automatically put an 18% tip on everything so be forewarned- whether ther staff deserves it or not - some did deserve it and more and others didn't deserve that much at all. Be warned that parking is $32 a night by valet or $20 on your own with a short walk in their lot. There is also a $15 daily resort fee which is OK if you use the beach or borrow a bike or something. Ask for a free beach bag or a free poncho. Model watching is inevitible, there are plenty around. All in all- it's South beach and you're going to pay for it. If you can't handle a tiny room then this isn't the place for you.

My boyfriend's 30th birthday was this past weekend, and I got his friends together for a night in Miami I wanted the both of us not to have to worry about driving and thought it would be nice to spend Saturday in Miami on the beach, so I looked for a hotel and found The Catalina. I ended up paying a "Miami-reasonable" amount. The only staff I had a problem with was the valet guy. He made us wait on the curb for a solid 20 minutes, saying he couldn't accept our car on the sidewalk and we'd have to wait until we could pull in a space - the spaces are ON THE SIDEWALK. But he was still very sweet. Check-in literally took me not even 10 minutes which I appreciated, as did check-out. The noise - There is a PARTY in the lobby all the time at night - I mean, I could barely hear ANYBODY when I walked in that night - HOWEVER - you hear NOTHING in your hotel room. AT ALL. I was worried, but then we closed our door and silence! The room - We got the room on a budget and it was perfect. SUPER CLEAN. Nice big bed, cool trendy look to it. Yes, it's a small room, but for one night it was PERFECT. If you're staying for more than a few nights, don't get this room, you'll be irritated when you have to climb across the bed to get to the AC or full length mirror. And you'll be even more irritated at how small the stand-up shower is. But seriously it was PERFECT for us for the night. Valet and resort fee were normal and no other ridiculous charges tacked on at the end. Late check in was instantly approved for 12 PM. All in all, wonderful experience and I would totally return again for a night in Miami.

Not perfect: she showed us two rooms, one of which was painted with garish colors that would have driven me crazy, but the one we stayed in was more mellow; quirky and comforable. There were no hooks anywhere to hang stuff on, but the bed was comfortable and there was a cool little balcony for fresh air. Best part was the rooftop pool, and the concierge was good. I loved the free bikes.

The rooms were much worse than they seemed from the photos. The doors on our closet were even missing. (And my sister's room smelled like an ashtray.) The keys for the room kept getting deactivated and we kept having to get them replaced. The safe didn't work. The bellman who was supposed to take our bags up to the room just left them sitting on the street unattended. Eventually a nice guy at the front desk helped us with them because he couldn't find the bellman. They jacked up their prices for New Years and let me tell you it was NOT worth it.

Overall it was a great value for the money. Excellent location with 2 beautiful pools. Only drawback was valet parking, it took way too long to get your car... on average it took 30 minutes, and one day we waited 1hr. It wouldn't be so bad, if they didn't insisted on saying "it will be 15 minutes".

The Catalina is a great hotel to stay. In my group there were 10 of us and were able to get rooms on the same floor. Only blocks away from Ocean Drive and has two pools that we often hung out at. The tempur-pedic mattresses were great! Especially after partying the night away MIA style it was comforting to come back to the room and just lay out on the bed. The food and drinks at the restaurant are delicious. There is also happy hour times at the hotel which was an added bonus.

The room was on the smaller side, but decorated in a chic way. Docked one star in comfort as bathroom had a funky shower that wet the whole bathroom area. Very nice curteous staff and service. One block from the beach. Both the roof top pool and the bamboo garden pool were OSM. Nice place to stay when ecploring south beach. Very close to lincoln mall. A bit away from mansion and cameo, but only about a mile.

Well, overall, the hotel is not that bad. However, my room was right over the bar (which runs until past 3 am) and sleeping was basically impossible. I didn't dislike the staff, which was helpful and polite, or the amenities onsite. I might say that $ 12 for a vodka soda is ridiculous, but I won't... I have yet to figure why they put the front desk in a totally different place (you have to check in, then bundle up, get out of the building, walk down the sidewalk and try to guess where you have to go with your keys...). I wouldn't recommend it to my parents (too many youngsters around). And it's definitely TOO expensive for what it offers.

This place had great rooms that were clean and very contemporary, especially the bathrooms. The lobby was pretty nice as well, offering pool tables free of charge and a nice setting.. only thing was there were a few hidden charges and the Valet parking for all of south beach can be pricey at around $40 a night.

This is my fifth or sixth time staying at the Catalina, and it is definitely worth requesting the Comfort rooms (which are in the Maxine.) The hotel is nice, relaxed, and tries its best in terms of cocktail hour and cabana use. In the very middle of one of South Beach's busier strips, it's an excellent base when making the rounds.
