Second stay at this hotel and again was not disappointed. Friendly staff throughout, great location and facilities. Plenty of breakfast choice. A great location for Waverly Railway station and the Playhouse Theatre, Old and New Town all within a short walk .

The staff were incredibly helpful, moving us to a more comfortable room on request. The only problem with our stay was the temperature of the room. I know it was winter but it was too hot.

Hotel is fine and comfortable and in a great location. Has a slightly tatty feel to it - needs a bit of a makeover. Main concern was that, despite being an expensive hotel, the extras really cost. WiFi is 'free' - fast WiFi isn't. And the cost of telephone calls from the room is absolutely extortionate.

Found everything to a high standard from our arrival , to our breakfast served to our room and the smooth departure process. The hotel is central for both the old town and the town centre area. Would definately stay at this hotel again.

went there for a weekend, we checked in at 5pm, only to be told that our room was not ready! normal check in is at 2pm so how can it not be ready?! asked concierge to make a booking for us at a restaurant, said he would do it, but he never got back to us. We called the Concierge from our room....kept ringing and ringing..no one picked up...called front desk...kept ringing and ringing..no one picked up. After 30 mins of continuous trying finally someone picked up. Concierge didnt get us a booking. Room was big but very bare. Sheets were very thin. Only good thing is the location.

Despite confirmation vouchers I was initially told that there was no room for me when I arrived. A room was found. Throughout the stay the meals provided as part of a conference deal were consistently of poor standard

The pool area and changing rooms need updating. The jacuzzi wasn't working for two of our three days. This didn't spoil our stay. Reception staff were very helpful.

We were lucky enough to have a room with air-conditioning, however a large percentage of the hotel is not air-conditioned - generally would not be a problem (it was 30 degreesC while we were there!) Absolutely a great location - I was in a wheelchair at the time and was able to see most of the "Old" Edinburgh area with minimal hassels.

I found that the single room was a bit small and that the decore was getting tired which would mean a good face lift. I overlooked the main station and if I stay again I shall ask for a btter location of room.

Perhaps spoiled by quality, friendliness and cost of hotels in Asia I found the Carlton to be a big letdown. Service was reasonably efficient but not overly friendly. Rooms, given the cost, were tiny but clean and pleasant enough. Biggest draw is location, although I''d be tempted to try the Scotsman hotel if I was looking for something in this price bracket again.

Price rating is based on this website's price, not the standard hotel price which seemed considerably high. The offer we took up was fantastic value for money and I would use the company again to book accomodation.
