Koh Tao Climate

Koh Tao enjoys a tropical climate, which means most of the year is hot and humid. The rainy season goes from about April until the end of July, and temperatures average between 32-40ºC. The winter months from December to March are the best time to visit, as temperatures range from 22-29ºC.

Getting There & Around

Most visitors to Koh Tao will arrive via the Koh Samui Airport and then take a ferry to the island. Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Muang Airport both maintains regular flights to Samui, and once there ferry or speedboat service is very easy to arrange.

Once on the island, it is convenient to get around by foot or rented motorbike. You can also rent bicycles if motorbikes aren’t your thing.

When To Go

The seasons in Thailand are categorized into three parts. The dry season, from December to February, is just that: Dry. Although there isn’t much rain, the breeze can be quite cool at times. The wind is also good if you plan to windsurf or parasail. The hot season, from March to August, is still very dry and features higher temperatures. These temperatures can reach 95°F (35°C), and with the humidity, it can feel even hotter. From September to November, the monsoon or rainy season begins. If weather is a main concern, consider coming to the island in the dry season, but be prepared for crowds.
