The temple looms large over the Ratchadamnoen Klang and Mahachak Road intersection and is a remarkable spiritual landmark. Built in the mid-19th century, the architectural marvel has several standout features. The most prominent is the Loha Prasat, a sequence of 37 cast iron spires that correspond to the 37 Buddhist virtues necessary to attain enlightenment. All in all, Wat Ratchanatdaram is the linchpin of Phra Nakhon’s superb ensemble of temples and spiritual shrines. The indelible landmark is one of Bangkok’s must-see tourist attractions.

Wat Ratchanatdaram and the Phra Nakhon district are 2.5 km from Bangkok’s Grand Palace complex. Visitors can easily walk or access the temple by bus.
The temple is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free.
