Tamarind Village Hotel Chiang Mai

This is a very relaxing place to return to after a busy day of sightseeing. Staff was friendly, the breakfast exceptional. The only slight problem was the hot water supply for the shower was not great. The hotel did a great job of arranging custom day trips for us as well.

Tamarind Village Hotel Chiang Mai

Great Location for a visit to Chiang Mai. The staff made us feel very welcome and the rooms were great. The only problem was that there was some building work going on at the back of the hotel, but thats only a temporary measure. I''d have no hesitation recommending it.

Tamarind Village Hotel Chiang Mai

The venue was charming - not your typical big chain hotel. The location was quite good - easy access to key parts of the city. However, the facility was very simple - only swimming pool, no gym. Very limited tour services. Overall, good value for the money.

Tamarind Village Hotel Chiang Mai

A definite recommend. An oasis in the heart of Chiang Mai. A similar facility elsewhere would no doubt be priced MUCH higher. Double thumbs up for Tamarind Village!

We couldn''t have been happier. It was a different, more cozy experience than staying in a large tourist hotel, and this is one of the major advantages. We were able to walk to many places from the hotel, and the staff were helpful in arranging transportation to other places. The staff were helpful in all matters from the moment we checked in. The breakfast by the pool was very nice. There was not a huge variety, but it was certainly adequate. One has to have a tolerance for geckos (which we do) in order to stay here, as their chirping is the only thing to disturb the calm at night. We would stay here again without hesitation, particularly at the price we received through this website.

Great find, great orchids, great location. Calm, beautiful, quiet, relaxing - all of the things we were looking for after a stay in Bangkok. The staff was friendly and helpful. Recommend highly.

Tamarind Village is like an oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle outside its gates. It''s so peaceful and the staff are very friendly. The rooms are clean and spacious, presented nicely with orchids everywhere, although a little dark and the shower is not always hot. Food is great and very reasonable for a hotel. We would definitely go back.

An oasis in the middle of Chiang Mai!! Simply the best place to stay: incredible location, friendly, helpful staff, relaxing beautiful grounds and very stylish Thai-style rooms. asiahotels.com has the best deal around at $38 for a standard room. The standard rooms were very simple and stylish. I would recommend the second story rooms, over the ground floor. The breakfast buffet was also superb. This was one of our favorite stops on our trip!!! We will definitely come back to this hotel and stay much longer than we did.

I liked the hotel. The rooms are simple but nice and clean. The breakfast buffet is good, a lot of fruit. The staff was very nice, I would recommend this hotel.

The hotel was a pleasure to stay at. The staff were thoughtful and attentive. The rooms, surrounds and pool were well maintained and clean. The ambiance of Tamarind Village was "beautiful". The lush foliage, the banana palms and the tastfully decorated chalets made this a very pleasant stay. The hotel is also centrally located with shops, Internet cafes and the night market within walkable distance. There are also many restaraunts. The price (at this time of year) was extremely good value.

The hotel is lovely, with a wonderful location, but I did have a number of problems, including: broken shower without hot water (they attempted to fix it several times, without success), inability to connect laptop to Internet, and bad food in the hotel restaurant (for dinner that is; the breakfast was quite enjoyable).

Hotel is well located, and deserves an honourable mention in the guides (our guide Footprint Thailand Handbook did not even refer to it). Well located inside the old city walls, everything in Chiang Mai is within easy walking distance. Staff are friendly; there is a tour desk in the hotel, which we did not use, but we got some free tips on places to visit etc. from the hotel staff, which was helpful.

The rooms are clean, but quite dark (the buildings have large covered verandahs, while the grounds have big trees that make the place cool and shady by day, but inside the rooms not much natural light gets in). Breakfast was a highlight, with a lot of exotic fresh fruit on the buffet (pineapple was the sweetest we''ve had anywhere) along with the American breakfast staples. Would recommend, although it is quite pricey relative to other places on offer.

Overall, Tamarind Village is fantastic. At such reasonable room rates, you get more than you pay for. The aesthetics of the room is fantastic. Staff are very helpful, including the drivers who made a point to make conversation everytime. The pool could be better though. The filtering system was either not switched on or isn''t there.

I think this place is a real find. Cool, elegant - an oasis. I loved it here and the food is very good too if you find yourself just wanting to hang around the pool until the temperatures drop. Great value - highly recommended and in a very good location in the city.

We would recommend, may be not for a family...a lot of honeymooneers, but very quiet and very well located...an authetic hotel, may be a little bit expensiv for the facilities offered...no minibar, no TV, no safe in the room

The hotel itself is stunning with a minimalist Thai feel to them. The hotel lacks what many may onsider important facilities e.g. TVs, radio, e mail, but then aren`t we trying to get away from all those things when we go on holiday?

The only draw back is the restaurant. Breakfasts are great but the menu for lunches and dinners is limited and not really of the standard the surroundings set up. If this aspect of the hotel were to improve I wouldn`t think twice about just going to the hotel and chilling out for a few days...but throw in the fact that most of the city`s tourist sites are but a short ride away a full week would be my preference.

This is a very good location right smack in the middle of old city. I have no complaints about the room, the hotel in general, food and the staff. But do beware when getting in-room massage service through the hotel. Not only it''s expensive, but for the price you''re paying, the massage service was not very professionally carried out - be prepared to be asked constantly if you want 2 hours of massage instead of 1 hour, plus the persistent offer of other services. But I suppose that would be fine, if it''s what you''re looking for.

This resort-style hotel in the centre of the old town is a little oasis. The pool and restaurant area is a fantastic setting and the rooms have a charm not found in a standard hotel. In the rooms we had, there was no fridge or TV, although TV was not missed. Breakfast was excellent, with a good selection in the buffet to suit everyone.
