The Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is a monument and tourist attraction located in Liberty Square in Taipei, Taiwan. The memorial is named for and honours General Chiang Kai-shek, the former President of the Republic of China and leader of Taiwan’s fight for independence. The Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is a unique structure with austere white walls on all four sides and an octagonal roof that rises seventy-six metres above the ground. The easiest way to get to the memorial is to use the Taipei MRT and get off at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall station. You can use exit 5 and then walk the short distance to the memorial. The area is surrounded by unique historical buildings and green spaces, so once you are there, it is a great place to explore on foot.
