Swissotel Nankai Osaka
5 out of 5

We had such a wonderful time at this hotel. The rooms are fantastic, the location is awesome and everything about this place is incredible value for money - for the price, there is no better. We couldn't believe we got such a great deal on a five star hotel! The staff are wonderful too and will attend to anything that you need. It's right on Namba station and above a Takashimaya department store so you are close to everything you need and then only a 3-5 minute walk along Midosuji to get to Doutonbori which has outstanding places to eat and things to see.

Nothing but praises for this hotel. Location is fantastic - it sits on top on Namba station, which is easily reached via the Airport Express (4 stops only, takes 39 mins). Note : do not take the normal train from the airport as there are more than 15 stops. The hotel sits smack in the Namba district where the main shopping and sightseeing attractions are (Shinsaibashi, Namba Walk, Takashimaya, Tower Records, etc). Service is excellent as the staff speak English and are very helpful. Rooms are very good and well-maintained (renovated recently). Things to improve : maybe the shower facilities as the bathtub is not fully enclosed by the glass panel, and there is a cold draft when soaping. Also, no complimentary mineral water.

Just above the Nankai Namba railway station, not too far from the JR and Osaka Subway network. And right next to Dotonburi and Shinsaibashi areas.

Stayed 2 nights part of hotel package in unrenovated rooms on Level 26,bathroom quite dated but offset by room size and great location. We arrived via Kansai Airport 8 pm and got to hotel in 2 minutes after catching a 50 minute train with minimal wait. Hooray!! Returned after 3 nights in Kyoto, stayed extra 2 nights - stayed in renovated rooms which were totally awesome (with free WIFI and weith Nespresso machine as well this time)- Advantage room. Again, we caught 9.30 am flight to leave so getting to airport easily was priortiy. Overall, highly recommended though we would have loved to use swimming pool which we had to pay extra for and which we did not consider good value. Hotel breakfast expensive too for US $30 each.

An accessible hotel by all public transport but need to ask platform staff to show the way cos there are too many lines to different parts of Osaka. The hotel itself is good. However if it is Swissotel, i would expect more from this brand. There are hand prints on the toilet wall, naturally it was left by the cleaning staff who had clined onto the wall when they clean the basin or the floor but they did not clean the wall afterwards. It was quite scary when you see this print at night time esp. when you are alone. The room is big and the bed is very comfortable. Since we only stayed there for a night so we had not asked for a change of pillow thought they have a few style for you to choose from. Overall, quite expensive!

This is a very nice hotel, however, like many high end hotels the up charge for basic things is a little ridiculous. In this case 25USD to use the hotel pool, 25 USD for one day of internet access. I really hate getting fleeced like this. I pay a premium to stay at very nice hotels I wish that simple amenities like this were part of the premium price.

The staff at the Swissotel in Osaka couldn't have been more helpful. If we had wanted to change suites, that could have been arranged if we weren't completely satisfied with the one given. But we were totally satisfied. The location is so convenient as it is above a busy shopping area with a good quality department store. It is next to the subway entrance for ease of transport. Osaka is a very clean city as is the hotel. A great 5 star experience.

Service was excellent. Concierge was especially helpful with directions and ideas for places to go. Facilities are typically old as with most japanese hotels, but clean. no free internet, unlike most japanese hotels i stayed at.

Location is ideal with Takashimaya Department Store underneath as well as Namba Rail Station for train to and from Kansai Airport. Bell services help you to take baggages down to platform and assist you to buy train tickets. Room is spacious. Afternoon tea at Pamela Cafe was great. We will stay at SwissOtel Nankai again next time.

Great location above the railway terminus from Kansai airport. Super views from rooms. We were upgraded to the executive floor and had a room with tatami mats and very superior fittings. Large, comfortable and lacking nothing. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Had a superior room which was spacious and comfortably accommodated our family of 3 as our daughter shared our beds which was 2 large doubles placed together. Location above the Namba subway is a huge plus for sightseeing. The concierge gave us an information brochure which listed all the major sights with printed details of how to get there and back to the hotel via the subway. It listed exits and platform numbers making it very easy to get around. This I believe was a huge plus as we only had a short time in Osaka. Hotel is also an easy walk to the Dotombori shopping district and the Post Office is conveniently located around the corner for easy ATM access.

Extremely overrated hotel. Old (though very clean). There's an extra charge to use the pool, and another fee for the gym, plus another fee for internet. It's not a cheap hotel to start with, so adding on these makes it excessive. Location is excellent though.

This is a nice hotel in a great location. Restaurants, shops and transportations are all within the vicinity. There's an airport express train at the ground of the hotel. Lastly, they have well kept big rooms.
