Nyköping enjoys an oceanic climate due to its location on the southeastern coastline. Summer highs range from 20 to 25°C, while winter lows can drop to -4°C. It is fairly dry year round with annual precipitation totalling around 60 cm. Due to the city's latitude, the sun stays up for as much as 18 hours a day during June, and in December there are only about six hours of sunlight per day.
Getting There & Around
Nyköping is only 100 km from Stockholm, which has the nearest airport. You can take a Swebus Express coach or train to town from Stockholm and many other cities in Sweden or Denmark. If you prefer driving, you can take the E4 highway.
You can get around town easily on foot since the castle, shops and bus station are all close to the centre.
