Sun Palace Resort Cancun Guest Reviews
We loved our stay at the sun palace. The Mexican restaurant was wonderful and we ate there almost every day. The best part of this deal were the resort credits, we used ours to go to tulum, chitchin itza, isla muerjas, massages and a romantic lobster dinner. We only spent money on tipping, awesome! Highly recommend.

We spent a week at this hotel - the best hotel I've ever been to, and I travel A LOT for work, worldwide. The thing that most impressed me is the staff - they would do anything to make you happy, no matter how much extra work is for them. The other thing is the food - really good quality, fresh ingredients, and prepared with art. The amenities are excellent - the saloon and the spa are nice and clean and they take good care of you. There are a lot of activities and animation going on all the time, but if you want to relax there are also quiet lounges and the beach is also nice and well equipped. Room service is excellent - if you wanted, you could probably never leave the room and enjoy the jacuzzi and the view of the ocean while eating and drinking anything you could ask for. We are both totally satisfied and already thinking about our next trip there!

First of all let me start this review by saying that my husband and I, although we are not Palace members, stay exclusively at Palace Resorts when visiting Mexico. We have stayed at Aventura Spa Palace 8 times, Vallarta Palace twice, and this was our second trip to the Sun Palace. We are very loyal Palace customers and have never had a bad experience with this chain, until now. Our stay with the Sun Palace was from December 7th – 16th. First I will point out the positives about this resort. It’s small but has a lovely ‘feel’ about it. If you are looking for a party atmosphere, this is not the place for you. However, if you are a couple in need of total relaxation (as we were), and you want to be pampered, then you simply can’t go wrong in staying here. The beach is lovely, the food is quite good for an all-inclusive, and the staff is the best in the business, hands down. Arturo & his ‘brother’ Jorge, Christian, Cruz, Estella, Maria, Danielle, Ailine, and Elizabeth (A.K.A. Nancy), we love you all and thank you for your superb service and wonderful hospitality! Because of you our vacation wasn’t totally ruined. It is THE STAFF that makes this resort run efficiently and it is my hope that upper management recognizes this fact. We have traveled extensively and nowhere in the world will you find a better staff of employees in one spot - nowhere! For the above reasons ONLY is why I give this resort a solid 4 star rating. Which now takes me to what we experienced that nearly ruined our nine day stay at this resort. Two days after arriving we were moved from a non-smoking room to a smoking room, and then our troubles began. We were given room 824 and it was lovely except it had ANTS and plenty of them. After 4 days of management’s attempt of solving the problem with a can of Raid, they called in the exterminator which finally fixed the ant population. However, and I say this sadly, no follow up was ever given by management after the initial complaint was given on Friday. And never once did we hear ‘I’m sorry” from either Jaime Ortega (Front Desk Manager), or Karla (Guest Relations) who worked with us on this problem. Jaime DID offer to move us to the room next door but we turned it down as it would have made 3 moves within 6 days with no guarantee it would be an ant free room since it was next door. Even Pablo Winkler (General Manager) seemed aloof about the situation when I brought it to his attention. Also, the evening before we were to leave (December 15th), the power went out in our room. We thought the resort had a power outage but it was only our room. To their credit, it was fixed immediately and the employee who worked very hard to restore our power, and who also spoke very little English, had the foresight to extend his apologies for this inconvenience. Maybe management needs to learn a lesson from their staff? That evening on our way to dinner I saw Jaime Ortega and when I told him about the power outage he laughed. Seriously? We just went through 4 days of ants literally pouring out of soda cans and electrical outlets, and he laughs that we now had a power outage too? It simply proved once again the total lack of professionalism by the management staff at this resort. Oh, and the TV didn’t work properly when we returned to our room that evening but I didn’t report it because by that time my husband and I were simply ‘done in’ by it all and were just extremely happy to be going home the next day. On our day of departure Mr. Winkler offered ‘to make things right on our next return’, however, did nothing while we were there. His generous offer would have been much more helpful during our stay rather than given an hour before our departure. I’m not certain we would return to the Sun Palace. Would I recommend this resort? Yes I still would but with a warning should things go wrong that require management’s intervention, expect your trip to be frustrating like ours was. And by all means if they offer you room 824, run the ot

Awesome experience, white-glove clean facility, 5-star food, helpful courteous staff with a fablous setting. What more could you ask for.

Staff: The entire staff was extremely nice and accommodating, which made us feel appreciated and well taken care of. Make sure to have plenty of 20 pesos bill handy for tips. Although this resort is all-inclusive, it is always good to show your appreciation for good service. Room: Because I had read other reviews, we made sure to request a chance to view our assigned room before agreeing to it. Thank goodness we did. If not, our "ocean view" would not have faced the "ocean" or beach, but the street and neighboring resort instead. The room we ended up in had a gorgeous view, was a nice size and very clean. However, there was a slight smell of sewer in the toilet area of our room, but it wasn't so bad that we needed to change rooms. We also made use of the safe in our room. This way we were never worried about any of our valuables. Hotel and Beach: The pools and concierge level seating at the beach was on point. Love the modern look of the interior. As for the towel service at the beach, it was nice to have this. However, it's time to recycle the towels with newer ones. Food: We were not fans of the lunch buffet and fruit in general. They definitely need to step up the food options/taste at this location. What made up for it was never-ending tasty drinks...there were few hours where we did not have a Mojito in hand. The food exception was the omelette station available during breakfast hours, which made very yummy custom omelettes, including an egg-white only option. We also had complimentary access to all of the other resorts (approximately 10-15 min. away by bus or taxi) and their restaurants, which was a nice. We also had a lobster dinner at this resort. The ambiance was gorgeous - dinner at the beach with ocean waves as our sound track. The appetizer was okay. However, my lobster was dry and the steak tasted pre-cooked. Credits: We received 1,500 resort credits for our stay this time. This allowed us to do everything from a couples massage (amazing), to snorkeling, "aqua twister" and a special lobster dinner. We were also able to use it on jewelry and tequila. :) Can't wait to come back once they've made some improvements.
