Great location overlooking everything. Do not get a street side room though as it is quite noisy into the early hours of the morning. The restaurant is good with amazing views. Good size room and amenities. Highly recommended.

The location, views and history of the hotel are a delight. The service is good, but I was not used to European style of service. I am used to Asian style and so I found the staff cold, distant and I tended to feel uncomfortable. Some of my problems too were my bad experiences in Rome - this played out in some anxieties on my part - so, I may have offended the staff in some way. To me 4 or 5 star service is not about 'oneupmanship' with your clients - but in trying to meet your client's needs. This was a problem I found in the three hotels I stayed at. I felt that I had to express my needs and problems, where they should really have been presumed and anticipated. I prefer the Asian style of service. Asian style is formal, polite but very inclusive - they try to do anything to keep the client feeling at home. I did not experience this in Italy.

Hotel is being remodeled but still a wonderful place to stay with a great location.

The hotel is clearly still under repair after the earthquake in Assisi which danaged many buildings as well as the Basilica. Parts of the hotel are still closed and there is scaffolding outside...however, the beatiful terraces overlooking the plain are open and the room we were given had perfect views.
