Starhotels Michelangelo Hotel Rome
3 out of 5

I just returned from my stay in Rome at the Starhotel Michaelangelo. The room was a good size compared to most European hotels, and the staff on the whole were helpful. The hotel is a bit run down, and could use some updating, but the room was very clean. The breakfast was not good compared to most European breakfasts. The location was very good for visiting the Vatican, but I had to take many buses and taxis during my 3 day stay to visit other attractions. If I return to Rome, I would stay in a more Central location.

My niece and I thoroughly enjoyed stating at this hotel. Guisseppe was wonderful and so accommodating. I was surprised that we had to pay for internet service, but later I found out that it is quite common in Europe. The breakfast was very good. Location really couldn't be any better! The train station and St. Peter's Basilica were both a short walking distance. I would totally stay there again and recommend it to anyone going to Rome!

Overall a good hotel. The a/c is turned off by November so the room was warm even with the window open. Our room faced the alley way behind the hotel so with the window, open early morning deliveries were noisy.

Excellent location just a couple of blocks from Vatican Square and access to the 'double decker' tour buses that allow you to get on and off at all the major tourist attractions. Great breakfast with lots of food, hot and cold, that was included with the room. One draw back is that there aren't many restaurants near the hotel that stay open late at night, so be sure not to wait too late to eat dinner.

Just back from a two night stay at the Starhotel Michaelangelo & would definately recommend it! It's literally a 5 minute walk from St. Peters/the Vatican which is great if you're in Rome for a short time (we were only there for 2days). Hotel is very clean, nicely decorated rooms with friendly staff & a nice buffet breakfast served each morning. We will definately be back!

Good clean hotel with nice atmosphere and so easy for Vatican City and central Rome. The staff were exceptionally pleasant, particularly the bar and waiting staff.

Great hotel. We had a spacious room with very nice, clean bathroom including bath, plus small balcony with view of St Peters. Although quite crowded, there was a good selection of food at the buffet breakfast and there was the option to have the breakfast in your room. Chocolate Bacio in the room to thank us for choosing Starhotels was a nice touch. Short walk to St Peter's and Vatican City. In a day, we had no trouble walking to Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain, Patheon, Vittorio Emanuelle Monument, Roman Forum and Colloseum.

Well situated for the Vatican and associated interests. Good access to public transport- bus, metro and trains. Restaurants and street cafes in proximity as well as small shops so a good facility as a tourist. Helpful and couteous staff with multiple language skills. No in room safe. Well able to "pop across the street" to St Peters.
