Lots of colonial atmosphere and great gardens, but our deluxe bathroom needed updating [which could easily be done without destroying the atmosphere] and the dining room lighting hasn't changed since the 1950's. The food is good and we would certainly stay again if we are in the area.

We were happy with the suite we were in (107) along with the fantastic service from staff. If you have done any travel in Sri Lanka you will realise that hotel rooms are not necessarily modern or updated, and they can look tired and stodgy. Although old and slightly tired, it is still far better than the others in Nuwara Eliya. Go for a ground floor room with access to the front garden. The service is excellent with extremely friendly staff who are always willing to help. According to our driver the accomodation for drivers was good. Highly recommended hotel.

We were delighted at the quaintness of the hotel and were impressed with the huge standard room which had been repainted recently. The location is great - total piece and quiet when you need it but only 5 minutes walk from the little town of Nuwara Eliya.The staff were extremely friendly and siting by the fireplace at night was lovely. Unfortunately the restaurant is better with set menus than ala carte, where it took ages to get the food. We also found the restautrant to be a litle dingy in the mornings where it''s nice to have natural light which having breakfast. Overall though, a highly recommended hotel. We really enjoyed our say there.
