The view of Old Toledo from the Tagus River is spectacular, with prominent standout landmarks such as El Alcázar and the Cathedral. The former was a stone fortification built incredibly, by the Romans in the 3rd century and still looms dramatically over Toledo. The city Cathedral is a 13th century Gothic masterpiece that takes hours to fully process and appreciate. Other important tourist staples in Toledo include the El Greco Museum and Santo Domingo El Antiguo Monastery.

Situated in central Spain, about 44 miles (71 km) from Madrid, Toledo is an old city found on a hill surrounded by the Tagus River. Toledo Climate
The region where Toledo is found has a climate in which winters are cold and summers can get rather hot. During the months of June through August, temperatures can sometimes reach and exceed 86°F (30°C). Average annual rainfall is about 17 inches (432 mm), with most of the precipitation falling during autumn and spring.
Getting There & Around
The Madrid Barajas International Airport is the most convenient airport for visitors. Upon arrival, travellers find trains, buses and hired cars available to reach Toledo.
In the city, getting around is best done with buses and cars. To travel farther, a visitor can take a train just about anywhere in the region. Travelling from Toledo to Madrid by train is a quick trip, and only takes about 30 to 40 minutes.
