The largest bullfighting amphitheatre in Spain, Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, sits in the Guindalera quarter of the Salamanca district in Madrid, Spain. A masterpiece of the Spanish architect José Espeliú, it invokes Moorish influences with distinctive lines and ceramic accents, featuring crests of the Spanish provinces. Seating for 23,000 is arranged in ten segments called “tendidos.” From March through December, the national pastime of bullfighting takes precedence. The primary hub of Iberia Airlines is Madrid-Barajas Airport. From there, public transport provides quick and easy access to Las Ventas. The Metro subway is of comparable speed and quality to London, Shanghai and Beijing. Buses 17, 21, 38, 53, M1 and M8 carry visitors to the amphitheatre, located at Calle de Alcala 237. Tickets for Las Ventas may be purchased at the arena, by phone or online at taguillatoros.com.
