The neighbourhood is perhaps most familiar to many as the home of El Rastro, a huge flea market held weekly every Sunday. The lively marketplace, with myriad handicraft and bric-a-brac stalls, draws a diverse crowd of Madrileños and visitors alike to La Latina. Historic landmarks like Iglesia de San Andres and Iglesia de San Francisco el Grande attract a fair number of tourists as well, as do a plethora of superb tapas bars. La Latina is also home to a notable LGBT community.

La Latina Metro station is the best way to access the popular Madrid neighbourhood. Other stations that service the area include Puerta de Toledo, Acacias, Tirso de Molina, Opera and Sol.
The best time to visit El Rastro and avoid heavy pedestrian traffic is before 10:00 a.m. on Sundays. The flea market is also open on public holidays.
