Lanzarote Island Hotels

Luscious Lanzarote
Lanzarote is one seriously popular tourist destination. Which isn’t surprising considering it’s one of the beautiful Canary Islands and is basically lush terrain surrounded by sea and sprinkled with fiestas and great attractions. But that does mean it is hardly the place to go for some R&R. So instead, go to Lanzarote for everything else…
Daredevils can enjoy a parasail at Puerto Calero, while shopaholics should max out their credit cards at the Biosfera Shopping Centre. But Lanzarote is not a complete cultural wasteland, with the Museum of Immigration full of fascinating stories from the earliest settlers.
In the end, though, it all comes back to the setting. And to see the island at its finest, climb to the 475m-high Mirador del Rio lookout, peer down on the tourists and think, ‘Well, I can’t beat ’em, so I may as well join ’em’!

LANZAROTE EVENTS
The Arrecife Carnival from February to March is a big explosion of fun. Dust off your dancing shoes and give the locals a run for their money.
The mother of all street parades is brought to you by the Teguise Carnival in March. Keep an eye out for the slightly spooky ‘Dance of the Devil’…
Hundreds put their athletic prowess on show at the annual Ironman Lanzarote in May. Come and watch the fitness freaks swim, cycle and run.
The Fiesta of the Virgin of Carmen in mid-July celebrates the saint with parades, parties and general hubbub. Olé!
September brings the Our Lady of Sorrows Festival, with its colourful parade and huge folk-style carnival and craft market.
WHEN TO GO
- Lanzarote’s summer temps are heavenly. With a constant flow of 29°C (84°F) days, you’ll be perfectly tanned in no time.
- Rain is inevitable in December and January, but there’s still plenty of sun given the average winter temperature is a balmy 23°C (73°F).
GETTING AROUND
- The Arrecife Bus Service trawls the entire island, but timetables aren’t exactly accurate and the service is infrequent. If you like your exploration to be well organised, this probably isn’t the way to go.
- Bikes can be hired from all over the town (including hotels). With a bunch of dedicated cycling lanes, a bike tour could be the ideal way to see the sights.
- If you want to enjoy the lush landscapes and greenery on the island’s outskirts, a cheap hire car is your best bet.
