Revelta i Beneides de Sant Antoni Abat in January celebrates the life of St. Anthony with bonfires throughout the island.
April sees one of the largest yachting events in the world, the Princess Sofia Trophy.Feel slightly sickened at the sight of so much money being paraded by the glitzy and glamorous of European society.
The first Sunday in May is the most colourful, with the Festa de Maig spring flower festival colouring Ibiza’s streets and houses with local and imported flowers.
September’s Diada de Catalunya national holiday is marked with a large parade followed by dancing and local food stalls.
When To Go
- September is a great time to visit as the clubs are winding up after a busy season, which means cheaper drinks and friendlier staff.
- June is great because it’s the beginning of the peak season so the hangover has not yet begun. The temperatures are also starting to climb for summer.
- Winter in Ibiza can seem a bit miserable as the weather is cold and most businesses are closed.
Getting Around
- Public transport is a great way to travel on the island, as special lanes guarantee you’ll get there on time.
- Hire cars are overly expensive and driving is dangerous, with Ibiza drivers notoriously careless.
- Walk. Why not? The sun’s out and you’re on a Spanish isle. Pack your sturdy shoes and keep your eyes open.
