Asan Rundown

Situated in an area of low foothills, Asan in South Korea is home to breathtaking countryside, the refreshing blue Asanho and Sapgyoho lakes, and the Anseongcheon and Sapgyocheon rivers. The city is famous for Onyang Hot Springs, the country’s oldest, as well as Dogo Hot Springs. Founded 1,300 years ago, Onyang Hot Springs has been functioning as a spring for 600 years. It is claimed that the water cures several illnesses, as the water is alkali and contains radium. These natural spa centres are highly rejuvenating, and therefore very popular among tourists. There are several 5-star hotels built around the hot springs, and the hotels also use the same water for their swimming pools. ... Read more »

Asan offers historical attractions including the Oeamri Folk Village, which dates back 500 years. A walk through the village transforms you to another era of rich tradition. The entrance to the village has artefacts from the Joseon Period (1300s-1800s). Because the old culture is well conserved in the Village, it is known as a living museum. The Hyeonchungsa Shrine was constructed in 1706 and is dedicated to General Yi Sun-shin. The city offers a soothing atmosphere where you can relax and forget worries.
