Mpumalanga Climate
Mpumalanga enjoys a pleasant climate with mild winter days experiencing temperatures around 20 to 25°C. Due to the Highveld escarpment, the western side of the region has more extreme weather conditions, being both hotter and drier than the rest of the province. The warmest time of the year is toward the end of summer, around January and February, while the wettest season is during the mid-summer period.
Getting There & Around
The Kruger Mpumalanga Airport is situated north of Nelspruit, just a 30-minute drive from the nearest entrance into Kruger Park. This airport offers regular connections to the major cities of Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. Also, the N4 toll road from Pretoria offers a straightforward route into the area.
Once in the region, one of the best ways to travel is by hired car or motorbike. With good roads, winding tracks and scenic routes, travellers can explore this beautiful region quite safely under their own steam.
