Somerset Hotel London
3 out of 5

This hotel is well located if you want to be near central or have easy access to the rest of London via the tube. The room was nothing special, was not dirty, but did not feel particularly welcoming. It can get noisy, so you may want to avoid if you sleep light. Staff was friendly and fast to respond, but not sure I got good value for money.

Perfect located hotel if you want to stay close to everything. Baker street tube station 1 block away. Rooms very spacy, compared to other hotels in the area. We asked for a twin room but had 4 beds in our room, and a lot of space between. Nice bathroom with a bathtub and shower. Breakfast could have been better, Coffee/tea/hot Chocolate/milk yoghurt, toast, marmalade, ceareals, it's worth the price you pay for the rooms. The coffee machine was free to use during the day, until 11 pm.

I arrived at Hotel with door open to public and no one at reception. I rung number and a person arrived and I checked in to my room. The room was not very clean and the towels on bed I would not have used them on my dogs at home. Window was propped open with brick and in window sill it was filthy. I did not feel at all safe as room was as end of corridor at disused stairwell with items everywhere. There was not even a safe to lock any valuables in. I immediately left to find other accommodation. I did not stay there and certainly would not recommend to anyone. I do not know how you can advertise this on your website. It was appalling.

I stayed at the Somerset hotel because the hotel I had originally booked was full and [website] suggested this one. I had read some reviews regarding the poor quality of the service and unfortunately I experienced it myself. There was no one at the reception at any time! They kept saying they were "helping a customer", even though we got there at 2pm... I only saw two members of staff. And very unhelpful ones. There was also no one there for check out, and were told (by phone) ro just leave our luggage behind the empty reception desk (which we didn't, of course). The room and toilet were tiny but that is ok. The level of cleanliness was acceptable. We didn't have toilet paper though. And the drawers of the small desk in our room were full of stuff left behind by previous guests: medicines, creams books, etc... The only good thing to say about this hotel is its location: close to oxford street (15mins walk). I would not stay there again!

What an amazing location and at such a cheap price. Location is secure and safe but could do with a bit of a clean and staff weren't around much. But for a bargain bed in central London - AMAZING DEAL!!

Basic, and cheap - served purpose for one night stay after nearby evening event. Staff were welcoming but no-one on reception when we left so was unable to give them these comments at the time. Glad I wasn't a tourist - I would not recommend it for any longer stay. Continental breakfast was (very cheap) cereals and juice plus toast, with hot drinks machine supplying ordinary coffee. One room was a curtain short and there were problems with the water supply. On a positive note, the beds were comfortable and clean. Having used [website] to book rooms in various places across Europe, this was the most expensive and the least impressive of the lot.

The hotel is very convenient for bus travel to both Stansted and Luton airports and into central London. The staff are friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself (rooms and common parts) would benefit from more attentention to deep-cleaning. The big disadvantage is being lodged on the top floor and wishing there was lift to get you up that far with your baggage.

This is a low cost hotel located close to Marylebone Railway Station and within easy reach of Oxford St & Regents Park. The facilities are basic but who needs these for a couple of days stay in London. It is very popular with groups of overseas students.

The price we got from [website] was excellent value. The hotel was in a good location for our needs. There was no hot water for the first night and as we had tickets for a show this started the evening off poorly. Chris the manager was most apologetic and offered us a free meal etc. The breakfast is basic with green label Asda products everywhere! Would I stay here again - probably not.

Only a few minors: - the doors are banging, which can be annoying - the television present gives very poor viewing quality, if you are lucky; in most cases you see snow...

You should know there is no lift, which makes luggage difficult. The room was large in size for London. The bath room, as is often the case in London is VERY small and had a somewhat dangerous bath that was elevated and slippery and my husband took a bad fall. this is an issue for older travelers. There is no one at the desk most of the time but they have a number you can call which they respond to quickly. Over all however the room and the great location at Baker street and helpful staff make it a good option in this price range in a city where hotels are so expensive.

The room was very clean and it was a nice bed. The pillows were awfull though. I thought the service was very good, very flexible so we didn't have to wait at all.
