Skotel Alpine Resort Mount Ruapehu Guest Reviews
Comfortable rooms. Was told max of 2 per room on this site so booked two rooms.....only to find each room had a queen bed and single bunks so could have used just the one! Never mind, it was a nice stay.

The hotel appeared to be run by seasonal workers waiting for a day off in the snow and whilst friendly enough, weren't very interested in smiling. When I asked the receptionist about under 5's cost for the buffet dinner, was told $15.50. I suggested this was too expensive as my son would eat a few mouthfuls from my plate. She said 'I dunno, that's policy and when asked where the manager was I got another, "dunno'. I eventually saw the manager who said we'd be charged $6 but failed to tell the restaurant staff. After our dinner I mentioned the earlier chat with the restaurant manager, she said to the waiter 'oh well giver HER the discount but not anyone else' threw me a look of disgust and started talking the person standing behind me. Unfortunately the location and convenience of the hotel leaves no other option of hotel in this price bracket. If you don't expect much and can tolerate bad or no service and poor food, the place is warm and clean and ok for a night or two.

Friendly staff, and very comfortable and clean room. It was good having the hire shop on site, as well as the sauna and spa which we used on arriving back from the skiing slopes in the evening. The views from the bar and balcony were very lovely. Very cosy central lounge area set around bar with fireplace.

Good facilities, exactly what we needed. On arrival we found one bedside light would not work & the electric kettle did not function. However, a trip to Reception had both put right within 5 minutes, so no complaints - but the people who service the room each day should check these things daily? Obviously the previous occupant had not mentioned the problems.
