The hotel is located in front of calm beach. Mui Wo ia a very local place in Hong Kong. The hotel has a restaurant which provides various range of foods. Taxi from the airport costs 136HKD. Between Mui Wo and Tong Chung, there are frequent loca bus services. I stayed in South Wing. The room was clean and had enough spaces. The buffet breakfast is acceptable though the range of foods is limitted comparing with other 4 or 5 star hotels. I will go back to the hotel when I visit Hong Kong. Your can easily reach Central by a first boat. I recommend you to hold "Octopus card" when you stay in Hong Kong. You can use it for subway(metro), bus and boat.

Ideal place for those who prefer to stay in a rural, quiet area with nice beach. Less traffic, no tall building, but need to take ferry to downtown Hong Kong (30-45 min). Old facilities but enough room size in comparison with other three-star hotels in downtown.

Second time there and love the quietness of Lantau compared to downtown. Love walking along the beach.

A great place to stay for a stop over to get over jet lag. Lantau Island so different to other islands and very quiet. Hardly any traffic and some great walks. Only a 30 min ferry journey to main islands and ferry trip very cheap (a couple of English pounds). This hotel is a few mins walk from ferry terminal and is best looking in town. Very cheap but as other reviewers have said don't expect bells and whistles. Basic but friendly, cheap and well located if you don't want to stay in the middle of the hussle and bustle.

An excellent hotel in a beautiful location. Hong Kong's excellent treansport system made it easy and cheap to travel all over the area. The hotel had a lovely pool, sauna, tennis court and gym. Much more than we were expecting. Rooms were large and en-suite. Breakfast was average but the buffet covered everything from cereal to fried noodles. When we come back to HK we WILL be staying here.

This is an excellent hotel for an escape from the city. A dip in the pool at sunset, a walk on the beach in the moonlight, a clean, comfortable and quiet bedroom - what more could you want? As others have commented, the rooms are probably overdue for refurbishment but that certainly didn't bother us. One comes here for a quiet retreat - not to be seen in stylish surroundings.

near Mui Wo - Central port, easy access if travel from Central Hong Kong island. Great view, long, clean beaches just in front of hotel. Room was spacious, staff was very friendly and helpful. Worth for price!

Excellent for those who want to avoid crowded downtown. Relatively less expensive with enough room size among any hotels in Hong Kong. Normal service and cleanliness. The facilities were old, but a nice beach was just in front.

Hotel in a good location near the ferry to Hong Kong (5 mins away)which takes approx 40 mins. The staff are very friendly. The rooms are a bit dated but clean and tidy and the free air conditioning is very handy in the heat of HK. There was no pool side bar but you could order from the pool and they would bring it out to you. I would select a beach view room if you can as the other views are not that great. There are some local places to eat which are a lot cheaper but the food in hotel is very good and you can trust it. The food outside was also good but the places were a bit shabby but it was China after all.

Unexpectable good. The place is beautiful and a internation standard services. Very close to the beach, this is the advantage. The staffs are pretty nice overthere and the facilities in the room are enough. The table r big enough too.... I will sure to visit again...

A beautiful spot facing the beach in an interesting, quiet area of HK. Great for walking. Just a ferry ride to hectic Central. Cheap bus or more expensive (HK$160) taxi ride across Lantau Island to the airport. Would definitely stay again.

The hotel is a perfect place to stay if you are going to explore the wild nature life of the biggest island in Hong Kong. But it could be better renovated given its beach side location. I think it is the best alternative dwelling place for a retrieve from the busy world if you do not want to stay in the Po Lin Temple and enjoy some good breakfast in the morning. It is a pity there is no play house for the kids. And the food price is too expensive given the ranking of the hotel.

Hotel staff had to deal with unusual situation with guests sitting out a typhoon during their stay. They were very helpful and calm during the storm. Renovations happening in one wing and could be good idea if it happens throughout as decor is a bit tired looking, but clean.

Drive from airport was longer than expected with winding roads through mountain but we enjoyed the slow pace and picturesque view around hotel b; furthermore, there was a feeling of being in mainland China which appeals to our missionary calling. We also enjoyed the tennis court and swimming pool and quick access to the Hong Kong island via ferry.

Good Long Staying Package. 40 min from the Airport. Pool is nice. Hotel is worn out. Rooms are big. The new wing is not worth of the money.

Currently being remodeled, but still a long long long way to go before it's worth the price. The town of Mui Wo and places like China Beach Club makes up for what the Silvermine Bay Resort lacks.

Perfect location -- on a beach on Lantau Island, just a half hour's ferry from the stinkiness of Hong Kong --- for a great price. The service here was far better than anytwhere else we stayed on our round the world trip and while the rooms weren't the smartest we'd stayed in they were perfectly fine (nice and large, with all the bits you expect) while the breakfast really good. Can't recommend it too highly!

if you like the more rural side to hong kong yet still easy and inexpensive access to central and the airport, this is a great choice.rooms are o.k. in size and facilities though perhaps ready for a bit of refurbishment soon-not a big issue though.the location by the beach in a nice little town with adequate facilities and great scenery and hiking right on the doorstep are what makes it,together with friendly and helpful staff.i'll be going back.
