This hotel is worn out and very cheap. Not a bad location. It is at the point where it should be converted into a backpackers or completely refurbished. If you don't mind worn out but at a good price then it is ok. I won't be staying there again only because I want better.

Water damaged carpet in the hallways, peeling wallpaper, "Free WiFi" that didn't work, cutlery that looked like it had never seen a dishwasher or clean tea-towel... shall I go on?

Staff were friendly. Hotel is nice and close to town & ferry terminal & just across the road from botanical gardens. Room clean with comfortable beds. Decor & bathroom in need of updating.

Perfectly adequate. Friendly staff. Good location. Good parking - plenty of room for a large vehicle. Not flash, but very good value - I always stay here when I visit Wellington.

Tired old hotel that has seen better days but priced accordingly. Room was clean, spacious and tidy so no complaints there. The staff could do with a rev up. The person at reception was practically rude. Forget about meals; the breakfast couldn't be more basic.

The hotel is poised for a revamp and general reconditioning, but all the same, the basics are there and in good order. Staff are pleasant and unobtrusive, location and free parking are bonuses. Lovely area with Botanic gardens across the street.

Bit run down, however cannot complain at the price. Walking distance of the city, and quieter than I expected. Booked in with my kids, and will do again.

I was placed next to the elevators that by the noises should not be operated at all. Beds were very old and uncomfy. Only had two very hazzy channels on old telly. Would be better ran as a backpackers or very budget.

Excellent bus access. Lovely and quiet at night. Pretty 10-15 minute walk through gardens down to city. Staff very helpful.

As always this hotel provided a warm, relaxed and convenient place to stay, with marvellous parking and a quiet location which is handy to the city.

You have beautiful botanic garden across the road and it is all good things about this hotel. It has really old facility, dirty and smelly, I have to ask to change the room because it has really bad smell. I arrived around 10pm from Ruapehu so my family is very tired and the receptionist told me that "someone called and canceled your booking". I am really Disappointed. Anyway, after many explanations and waiting for long time he gave me a room which is very bad condition and kept telling me that I had made many bookings and had problem with the travel agent and i need to contact them next morning to sort it out. In the next morning, I met another receptionist and she told me that there is nothing wrong with the bookings just bait confused.... This is ridiculous and wasting a lot of my time.

This Hotel is in a great location overlooking the Botanical Gardens with easy access to the city. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Unfortunately the general appearance and room we were allocated, was very disappointing, very musty smell in the room and mould on the back of curtains and walls, bedspread was old and needed washing. The price was very reasonable and the free breakfast (continental which could be upgraded to cooked for $6 was a great bargain. It is unfortunate that the owners have neglected this Hotel, which has so much potential.

This hotel is very basic and in urgent need of some repairs and money spent on it. The evening meal was very good but it is hard to get over the fact that most times you are the only person in the dining room or the bar. Very limited staff numbers. The bar was very basic with hardly any stock. The staff were nice just not enough of them.

The hotel was reviewed by others as "tired", I would say it is exhausted. Rooms are not clean with dead insects on the window ledge, rooms smelling of deathlak (indicates to me cockoroach infestation). Couldn't get out of there fast enough! Found a great place up in Tawa (4 bed house for $170 a night) just 8 Km out of Wellington and much more relaxing!

Hotel is old and needs a complete makeover, but is clean and comfortable. Easy walking distance into the city downhill and cable car back up. A lovely little village next door with excellent places to eat. The breakfasts could do with a bit more variety but overall it was good value for money.

I've seen lots, & not hard-to-please, but ... Last year... out of 50's? antiquity, jaded 'decor' to suit, almost seedy, totally worn out to the eye, basic hard bed, smelly/broken toilet-could not be fixed [no other room offered], no heating [cold blustery day], tv reception shocking/few channels, more expensive than 4 star hotels downtown. Asked for heater, given pathetic plastic $13 job which couldn't warm even my toes, let alone a room, smell of burning wires, unsafe. Sorry to say, the pits!
